I shot my first competitive match last week, with objectives of having fun and learning. It was a run & gun style rifle match and met my objectives. Very fun. I was pleased to finish above last place, but it made me curious about the scoring. The top two stages were all steel and the lower two were on paper. Can anyone explain the hit factor scoring we used? ETA I'll just post the friggin image links: https://ibb.co/YT0zMsMm https://ibb.co/rKMs4bHY |

Hit factor = Your total points (minus penalties) divided by your time. The "Stage Points" is a percentage of your points vs. the points of the top scoring shooter for the stage(determined by highest hit factor), which is done to relativize the scores. The stage winner gets 100% of the points for the stage, and you get the percentage of points based on your HF/ the winner's HF. |

Let's say a stage has 5 paper targets, 2 shots per paper. That's 50 available points for the stage. You shoot a clean (10 alphas) run in 10 seconds. Hit Factor = points/time. Your hit factor is a 5. The top shooter shoots the same clean run in 5 seconds. His hit factor is a 10. Total stage points available is 50. Top shooter gets all 50 points for the stage. Divide your hit factor by his, and you shot 50% of his hit factor. Multiply your percentage by available stage points. You get 25 points. Rinse, repeat for all stages. Add the total points at the end for final standings. |
