After reviewing my equipment and the rules I only have one question. I only have one 12 guage shotgun and it is a Mossberg 500 with a 28" barrel that has vent ports towards the end of the barrel. Is this a legal shotgun for use. I know it is only a pump action but I figured it could get me into the sport. I think if I enjoy this it would be an awesome excuse to buy me a semi-auto shotgun for more competitive performance. |

Unless you are shooting heavy metal, Moss 500 will put you at a disadvantage. You can but a Moss 500 barrel fairly cheaply, if you want to start out. Semi auto will be faster.
Practice reloads, semi or pump, you will shave seconds off your time. Figure out how your are going to store your SG shells on your belt or special reload harnesses. |

| Just shoot what you have for now, even if it puts you into Open division. I hate to break it to you, but you probably won't win first time out, regardless of the division you choose - who cares, as long as you have fun and learn from the experience. I would not bother to try covering up the ports etc. If you decide 3-Gun is for you, simply sell the Mossberg and buy a semi-auto that is within your budget. |
