I have just been to a few matches in the past month. After a ten year break. I was never awesome, but man do I suck now. There are less casual shooters, more dedicated/training shooters, more complicated stages, more long/accurate shots on the stages, more got yous/hunt and pecks/trips ups on the stages, higher average round counts, and you’re lucky is there is another shooter or two without optics in your squad. I have been shooting production. I am thinking of dusting off my old Limited 10 P14 to shoot Limited Major. I never had an extended magwell on it. Is there even any place to find an extended magwell for a P14 anymore? |

I always hated the idea of USPSA's 10-shot capacity limits as they seem to be cowtowing to the worst of the worst gun control states at the expense of the majority of free states. Now it seems I am not alone - the lo-cap divisions have been in sharp decline since PCC and CO were introduced. The truth is nobody likes spending more time reloading than shooting, and I am too old to be bending over to pick up that many magazines after every stage. Furthermore, USPSA stage designs have evolved in recent years to be much more accuracy-oriented... lots of partial targets and no-shoots, increased average target distance and reduced average hit factor. Frankly, USPSA shooters should not pretend to be surprised when more and more folks bring a PCC to what has essentially become a close-range rifle match. Instead of throwing good money after bad, forget the Para P14. I suggest you try CO - competitive guns are relatively cheap and much more reliable than any 1911-based platform, the cost saving with 9mm vs. .45 will pay for the gun in no time, and with capacities of 23+1 you will be able to focus on shooting instead of planning reloads between every position. Lo-cap divisions are dead, and I for one won't miss them. |

With a majority of targets like that used to be that hard one or two. It’s almost like the local, level one matches have become what a state or regional major match was. It makes shit a lot less fun for casual shooters. It’s like every stage that wasnt the classifier is now “that one damn stage” everyone thought was a MFer. Does every mini popper need to be backed by no shoots? Does every swinger need to be in a sunflower of no shoots? Can’t we just blast a standard plate instead of six six inchers at 25 yards on a lean? I can’t even imagine bringing a new shooter to one. I disagree about magazine changes. I think every stage should have a mag change. I’m not talking going full retard multigun where half the match is you are at doing trick shotgun loads with gear that couldn’t be used anywhere , etc. I mean one damn mag change to keep the ability to reload fast and recover part of the skill. I have mixed feeling about the ten round limit. I am 100% for a capacity limit in all divisions. Not a race based on what gun comes with 15, 17, 18, or 20 round mags. Then Leading to gimmicky, expensive mag builds to get that 23+1. If I was lord god king emperor I would probably say -everyone gets 15 round mags- every stage will have a mandatory mag change, but no more than 2. |

Back when I used a Para copy. I think I was 18 max of 45. Para mags, Dawson +1 base pads, ISMI or Wolf gunsmith springs with 2.5 coils cut off (a little foggy here). followers were para. All I have left somewhere in a box are SVI para tubes a Dawson mag well and maybe a trigger. the SVI tubes did not hole as much ammo as the para mags, but During the Ban I bought what I could find. |

I don’t remember for sure either. I started with a plain alloy framed out of the box around ‘96, and had a two coupon normal capacity mag thing to mail in. I think the pads took me to 16 instead of 14. A couple of years later I got a stainless Limited P14 and with the ban/mag shit of the era just did L10. |
