New to the site and I’m sure this has been posted many times. I am trying to find the muzzle velocity with the following set up. Factory 69 grain FGMM SMK 16 inch Larue Stealth 1:8 barrel I am trying to work up an easy MOA chart out to 600 yards. Any help is much appreciated ! |

we're talking generalities here because the actual MV should be validated with a chronograph. Federal lists the GMM 69 SMK at 2950 fps MV (test barrel length is typically 24") < assumption 1 On general, you would lose about 25-30 fps per inch cut down. 8" at 30 fps per inch = 240 fps velocity loss < assumption 2 your starting point for generating a table should look to start from say 2650 to 2700 fps in your ballistic calculator with a G1 coefficient of 0.301 Again, this just gives you a starting point, needs to be validated with a chronograph and range time to see POA vs POI good luck. |
