You know, there are plenty of side-by-side SBSes in this thread. Also plenty of 12 gauges. Well, how about a side-by-side AOW? And let's do something different and make it a .410 bore. 
(Sorry for the bad camera phone pic from the AZ C2's place. Better can be done now that it's home!) Just arrived from my SAR 2011 trip! Hooray for a 7-day turnaround F3! Backstory... I've wanted a double barrel AOW ever since I saw the ads for the Denny's Guns 20 ga Auto Burglar Clone in SAR Magazine around 1999/2000. Foolishly, I waited. They ran out. Then I saw some at SAR 2004-2007 for double the price. I hemmed and hawed. They sold. Then I found this little fellow for a little over half the original MSRP of the Denny's Auto Burglar. As the C2 who papered this AOW told me, he found one receiver forging (way less than 80% done) for a 12 gauge and one for a .410 bore. The C2 had both forgings machined into finished receivers, papered them as AOWs, and finished them out with parts from a host gun. The 12 gauge was already sold. I was disappointed but still grabbed the .410 with little thought. I finally got my SxS AOW! The C2 congratulated me on being the wiser buyer- he said that the .410 will be far more friendly to shoot and far more useful than the 12 gauge. I quietly doubted him because of my experiences with shot spread with Judges, derringers, with one of those old "Thunder 5" revolvers, etc. How useful could a .410 be when the pellets quickly spread out a foot or more with just feet between you and the target? Well, yesterday a box from Arizona arrived. I quickly visited a friend's gun shop. He just took in a used .410 and the seller gave him a nearly full box of shells with the gun. My Christmas gift was free factory shells! We hung a busted-up used FedEx shipping box, wandered 6-12 paces, and pulled the triggers. WOW! Like I said, I'm used to horrible shot spread. I questioned how a .410 could be effective against anything if the shot stretched from here to the Atlantic coast. This little fellow's barrels kept the shot group within a nice tight pattern at "snake range" - nothing like the crap patterns from the Judges! And recoil? I've shot worse basic 9mm pistols! Nothing to it! It's one of the friendliest shooting pieces I have, and the shot is tight enough to be useful! Any how, meet the newest acquisition to my stable! Mike |

Much rather semi auto or a double barrel then a pump. Once i get the 1100 working I'm parting out the 870 and SBSing an over under and a SXS with exposed hammers. |

This shotgun was in the back of a truck headed for the junk yard. Looks like someone shoved a 20 gauge down the barrel and followed with a 12 gauge. Barrel was blown just past the hand guard at about 13", someone had to change their shorts after that.
I paid $20- for the poor thing and registered it on a Form 1, paying $200- to make it a short barreled shotgun. Stock removed and barrels cut to 9.75", this thing WILL get your attention when fired!! So here we are with the before and after pictures. Baker Gun Company, Batavia Special, 12 gauge, 9.75" barrels, 18.25" OAL. This is my Mad Max special. I used screen shots from the movie while creating this beast and left as much rust as possible for that post-apocalyptic look. Barrel work done by Gary at Gary's Bunker another awesome job from him.

My very first SBSs ever, recently approved and first assembled last night.   Quick pics snapped because it was late, they will look better once I properly oil and wipe down the park'd finishes.

Hello shotgun guys!
Since I must destroy my two SBS Rem 870 barrels (12 & 14") over my gunsmith 
after the last gun law change in our country I still looking for a nice SBS which fit the new rules (only semis are allowed under 18" barrel, repeating shotguns not! Silly, I know!) So I 'm in the game for a semiauto shotgun, which is still allowed as long gun as long it have over 24" overall lenght! Seeing many Rem 1100 and 11-87 flowing around in the German used gun business for small money I have to take my chances. Trying such a beauty as normal 14" barrel sbs and another in the style of the old Sage Sidewinder to take my original Rem folding stock on it .
Have someone here a clue what it takes? Sage is out of the business with those conversations and want not give any infos about. Can someone help me? Complete mechanic workplace is there, I only need to know what must change on that shotgun and to which scale and measurements. Thanks a lot Fritze from the Rhineland |

Wo wohnen sie im Deutschland? Ich wohne im Mainz-Gonsenheim fur zwei jahren, vom January 90 bis November 91. I wish I could be of help regarding the conversions of 1100's and 1187's. It sucks that your gun laws are changing for the worse. Sorry to hear that. If you want to get rid of those 870 barrels, there are a few U.S. soldiers who are members of ARFCOM that are stationed in Germany. Maybe one of them can take them off of your hands and find a buyer here in the States? |
