Will try and find another pic for you.
Yes it is a mag ext. I cut down a factory 2rd ext to make it.

Here's one from almost side on. Sorry, not a very good pic.

And the mag ext before it was refinished.

Uh, from where?  I'd love to get a 14" M4 but I can't find them.  I'd rather buy gen-you-wine than have it chopped by a smith.

Remington 870 express (I know, I couldn't fish out a P ) with a factory 14" bbl. The 12.5" are cooler IMO.
Now where'd you get that wilson one shot extention boy

and removeable chokes, that's a plus

Mines an express too.
Replaced the plastic trigger plate with a metal wingmaster one and changed out the MIM extractor.
It's just as good as a police now, It just doesn't say it on the side.

The mag ext is a cut down factory 2rd.

The chokes are great. I did quite well shooting clays with the full choke.

eklikwhoa,

I bought this AOW from the original Scattergun Technologies in the early 1990's (way before they were bought out by Wilson). They built them on virgin 870 receivers. The barrel is 12.5" with a screw-in modified choke (don't know if ST bought them that way from Remington or cut down a barrel). It is a standard mag tube holding 4 rounds. The stocks that originaly came on it were wood, but I replaced them with the Speedfeed synthetic. Since this picture was taken I have replaced the forearm with a shorter one and installed a Mesa Tactical shell holder on the opposite side of the receiver. HTH

I swiped the photo from a thread on Benelli's forum. The owner of this shorty M4 lives in Germany, I believe.

It says in the Remington LE Catalogue that they offer a factory 1rd ext but I have never seen one.

Hey gang, I'm sorry to but in but I can't help myself. I have a couple ?'s I need answered.
1) What is the cost for the tax on a form one?
2) Where can I buy a 12.5" bbl for my 870 express? Can I get one that accepts the remchokes?
3) Once the paperwork is finished and the new bbl installed, can I still put the 28" bbl on the same reciever?
I have been wanting to do this for some time now.

So if I wanted to chop the barrel on my Norinco 870 clone, I would first have to fill out a form 1, send $200, when I get the stamp and approval back in the mail I can grab the rusty hacksaw out of the shed and chop it down?  (sort of speak)

About the Form 1....

My dealer filled that in for me.  "Personal collection" or something along those lines.

Yeah.  But I would buy an NFA barrel.  That way you still have your regular barrel too.  Mine originally came with a 12" barrel from the dealer, but I got a 14" factory Rem barrel on the gun auctions so I could have a bead sight at least.

ggllggll,

I use my SBS for 3-gun matches so on my form1 I put "add to my collection and competition use".  In fact that is what I put on all of my Form1's and they go through just fine.

Do you have to pay another $200 for the nfa bbl or can you go to a class 3 ffl once you have the stamp, for your sbs, and legally purchase as many under 18" bbl's as you want for that same sbs?
I am a bit confused on some of the legalities on this issue. I am certain I want to put in my form 1 for an sbs because the aow cannot have a buutstock. If Iam wrong on that please correct me.

Also, What procedure do I have to go through to get the cleo to sign off. Is there a certain form or do i just need to write an endorsement and have him sign it. I know that the NFA stuff is signed off in my area. Seeing as how I already have my CHP, I don't think that any other gun related issues will be a prob for me. Thanks for this thread btw.

the reciever is whats registered so the bbl is just a part but they require you to note or notify them when a bbl length change is done.

aow- no stock
sbs- whatever

i went the LLC route so i didnt need a cleo signoff.

Depending on who you buy from the barrel can be bought with no documentation.

CDNN used to have factory 14" barrels for the 870 but Im pretty sure they are out. I called CDNN today and asked and the guy acted like I waas trying to buy crack. I informed him that they were once sold and he had no idea what I was talking about. Im guessing he's a new hire.

There's no way they were out!  I'm betting they dumped them off to some other dealer, cuz they had all kinds of sight configurations on short barrels.  I tried to buy one from CDNN once.  They would only ship to the addy on my NFA paperwork, and some other sketchy crap.  They were really affraid to make the transaction.

It ended up being more aggravation than it was worth so I just picked one up on the auctions.

Im gonna call back and talk to someone else. They were like 130 for the barrel and nightsight and 160 incl the 2 shot ext, tube follower, sling loop. You are probably right in that they probably all went to a dealer.

Yup.  That's essentially what I had.  But I ended up buying a 14" barrel so I'd at least have a bead sight on the thing.
