so I have a bunch of cheap knives and a few nice ones. I want a nice woods knife and I retired early and I'm out and about in the ozark mountains daily. We live in an offgrid homestead so I'll probably use it SO I have a brand new in box Schrade SCHF42D Frontier that I got really cheap years ago that would probably work but I HATE the plastic handles. Getting custom handles defeats the purpose of a cheap knife. I'm guessing eBay it and put funds to better knife Attached File Attached File I have a Mora Companion too but it's just a Glock or toyota corolla of bushcraft knives. I want something nice with micarta handles I was thinking ESEE 4 but I am not a fan of coated blades but I hear the coating is tough, I kinda wanted stainless but I baton fire wood often. I have some older Schrade survival knives too but I want something nicer that will last. I also have some other Gerber LMF and Boker knives but they are too nice to use I just am not a fan of ESEE coatings (mostly visual) and the price not sure what to get. I don't want super big too as I plan to carry often Something other than Esee? I saw anOntario 8696 Bushcraft Field that I really liked besides the wood handles. I really want Micarta |

Look at the Hudson Bay knife post doubleplusgood made here. I asked him to make that knife for me as an all purpose camp knife. If the blade is larger than you want, I am sure he could make one smaller. I will be using the hell out of that knife around the farm/camping/hunting/etc. |

Watch for this to come back in stock. Ping/Ping steel but they are great none the less. |
ARFCOM GD hates everything so don't freak out if you catch grief for what you like. Unless you like AKs, then GFY.

so I may try my hand at micarta fitting! but for now: I just ordered a Joker Nomad 5" with OD micarta and fire steel. In the ozark mountains is very humid in summer and my beater knife always gets rusty so I wanted to try stainless. no custom knives for me as too much for my current income stock photo of the Spanish knife Attached File and my beater knife Attached File |

I bought this off Amazon. Micarta stocks and D2. Blade is harder than woodpecker lips and holds a wicked edge. Sheath is nice too. $40-$50 if I remember correctly. Attached File I can find a link if interested. |
I tried that whole cancer thing. It wasn't for me. Good Riddance.
