I don't like the look of bars, but they work. Unless there's a fire and you're trying to get out... I would think a combo if screens, storm doors, deadbolts, lights, and alarms/dogs would be best. You don't have to be a fortress, just more secure than the neighbor. that's the approach I've always taken because I don't want to live in a prison. You could get those roll down shutters like they do for hurricanes, but those need to be deployed. Locked screens/window film and basic secured doors can be there all the time. |
