Have one of these safes for ammo storage, it has a digital electronic combo, its been problematic since day 1, I recall a thread replacing the front half of the lock (front side of door), can anyone point me in the right direction for a better lock? TY |

I have one of those tractor supply "safes" and the lock has worked great for me. I also have up to TL-30s with manual dials. It's such a cheap safe I would either get the exact same replacement lock or leave the digital lock on and use the key under it. It's just a locker more or less of thin steel so I would not go too crazy on a lock replacement. The Lock looks different sized than the real safes I have so you may have to do an eBay search for that lock that is on it Looking on eBay you can find replacement locks pretty cheap |

I needed a new safe same day, so one of these at TSC was my best bet. The keypad burned up in a couple days. Two of the three backup keys don’t work at all, and one of them works after about three minutes of jiggling the handle and key simultaneously. Talk about a panic moment. Look at the reviews. There’s a reason there’s 200 1* reviews. These Winchester TSC safes are a major roll of the dice and not worth the gamble. |

update: I ended up contacting Winchester, there solution was to replace the key pad with another cheap one, $50 + 15 shipping, simple install and it's worked ever since, the battery hasn't needed to be replaced, I guess I'm ok with it, again all I use this safe for is ammo storage. |

If you’re looking at these, just buy the better safe. I did all the work, it was plug and play, I also had to buy a tap to chase the existing 2 screws to a different thread pitch.. |

So just wanted to update as I found my problem. The plug for the battery is incredibly picky. The Duracell that came with it and Energizers I bought left an incredibly tiny gap that I couldn’t even tell was there. So I went and bought a bunch of new Duracells per a recommendation I found on YouTube. Of the four I bought, two actually snap on the entire way and the safe works fine with them. The other two of the same expiration date/lot have the same intermittent connection issue. I should get pictures but when I say the gap is tiny, I mean no one would ever notice if they weren’t specifically looking for it and very closely at that. It’s annoying, but go buy a bunch of Duracells and check. Your eye isn’t good enough and the best way to tell is the sound difference it makes. Fucking dumb still, but my safe at least works now. |
| We've had that same safe for some time now. I guess we just got lucky because ours has been 100% problem free since it came through the door. Getting the safe through the door was not so problematic though. We're still on the original battery I believe. Ours is kept indoors, in a climate controlled environment, so maybe that helps? |
