Im not trying to find a beta mag But the 50 round snail ones look pretty neat Is magpul the move or is the f5 the one to buy? Feel like I havent heard people talk about either too much Ive got a stack of 30s but want one drum to keep around

My F5 colt style smg drum self destructed after light use. The magpul is a pain in the butt to load and has a tendency to let the loading lever open while shooting, especially with an frt * I should add that the F5 issues may not apply to the mp5 drums. The loading lever opening while shooting could very well be user error. |

I got the magpul today Loaded it up no problem. I think the little ratchet is a real nice addition just BARELY fits in my MP5K with the OG VFG style grip. I mean it takes a little fandangling to get it in there really Well see how she shoots. So far I like it enough I think I might grab one more depending how it feeds |

The lever on the Magpul is kinda funky at first but once you have used and loaded them a bunch it’s pretty easy to find the right technique and they load pretty easy. I have not used the 9mm version but I have 4 of the D60s for AR15s. I assume they function the same. |

I mostly run gen2 KCI mags. Picked up a couple dozen back when I first got the PTR. They’ve been great. No issues through many thousands of rounds and years of 2gun/PCC matches. |

None of my MP5s are picky, but my AKV is. It will run with the 147 flat points with the smaller flat spot. I switched to loading my own, so now everything is 147 round nose and it doesn't matter. |

It feeds pretty good in my MP5 and MP5K with KCI 30 rounders The K will occasionally choke on the last round of this stuff but feed the rest flawlessly. Bullet stuck on the face of the barrel kind of thing But I do feel its a rough one to try. Ill grab some ball to try again |

Mine love to smash the last round into the feed ramp and turn it into a 380. |

I like to think of them as 29 round mags with an expendable bolt hold open device I did clean one of them and it fed all 30 so maybe its on me a little bit

I don’t have an issue loading the Magpul drums. I have a couple D-60 5.56 drums and a couple 9mm D-50 drums with the short Glock-pattern feed tower for PCCs. They have all run well in everything I’ve used them in. I’m just recently getting into the HK-pattern roller lock platform, but a D-50 is on the list of things to get. I have a few Beta mags. People complain about the graphite, but I haven’t found that to be overly burdensome. But now that they’re out of business, the asking prices for the mags have gotten into the stupid range. (And I thought they were expensive during the AWB). I have a pair of Uzi Beta drums and I’d like to find a Glock PCC or an HK tower for one of them, but those are expensive and hard to find as well. Unless a person just has to have one, I’d look at other, more available options. |

I'd think someone crafty with a 3D printer could make some interesting Beta towers or for hard to find or even replacement spare ones. |
