I’ve been down the rabbit hole several times. Which is the preferred belt fed upper at the moment? I would like to add one to the inventory, it would sit on a post sample lower. Thanks |

Lima-6 is definitely the new hotness. One of its biggest pros is the lower cost. Another is the fantastic support here from the manufacturer. The biggest cons, in my opinion, are the lack of quick-change barrel and limitation to only being belt-fed, and, honestly, neither of those are likely to be important to most users. FightLite offers a couple versions. The MCR is the higher cost option and has both quick-change barrels and the ability to use belts or mags. The DFX is their newest option. It's priced a lot lower than the MCR and, like Lima-6, doesn't offer a quick-change barrel-though it is fed by either belts or mags. Some folks have reported issues with FRTs and the MCR upper, though, that won't be a problem with your F/A lower. I have FightLite's now retired third option, the Raptor. It's a budget version of the MCR. I haven't had any problems with it, personally. I also plan to buy a Lima-6 eventually (and really want the water-cooled version KAK displayed at SHOT). |

Good assessment SiVisPacem I have several beltfeds and I was an 0331, so I have some real world experience as well MCR Mine has been 100%, since new. That also came with generous lubricant And grease in the right places, and the increase spring rate and buffer. It's currently on a Black Widow duel feed lower with an AS ARCfire trigger. It was on a Colt, with an RB, and the trigger was problematic, but it runs well with an M4 upper 249S 100% out of the box. It's heavy, the manual of arms is funky, and the trigger is ass. But, I love it, and I expect an FRT soon Lima6 Great value, the manual of arms is familiar, replacement parts are easy. And works well with AS ARCfire I ordered a Turkish MFR. Im sure I'll have an opinion on that later RPD, unfamiliar manual of arms, it's striker fired, and a bit of a PIA Out of all of them, the L6 is the best all around. The lack of quick change barrels is not an issue. So many people think it's a show stopper, and it's hardly relevant. Duel fees... I guess I'll try it some day. I haven't in the 249s or the MCR |

RE Quick change barrels As someone who use to own an NFA RIA M60 with E3 kit and did belt dumps at MG shoots ranging from 100-400 rounds I never swapped out a barrel. The people I use to shoot with who also had 60's, MG42's etc also never swapped out barrels while line shooting. One guy up at the Maine shoots was famous for doing belt dumps of 700+ rounds. Yes, these were open bolts MG's but when they got heated, we let them cool off. Is it a nice option to have, sure, but not the end of the world. After all, how many rounds is someone going to be dumping down a belt-fed AR platform. Remember the heat does not just stay in the barrel. |

I'm an old 60 gunner from 40 years ago. The rule was to swap barrels when the first one went cherry. It was an 'oh f*ck it's melting' scenario. It wasn't an accuracy thing, it was a 'the barrel is melting' swap. Quick change barrels are a combat thing, not a range thing. |

That's why I said it'll never be an issue for most people, as most users are going to use it at the range and can afford to let the barrel cool down. One thing I like about the quick-change barrel, though, is the ability to pull it off the gun and toss it into a spare barrel bag, which has a heat-resistant liner. That allows me to pack up and leave without having to sit around waiting for the gun to cool down enough to throw it into a case. If you buy your upper with the intended purpose of the 2nd Amendment in mind-fighting, not just plinking-the ability to swap barrels could become important, should you find yourself on a two-way range. |

I hate to point out the obvious, but the simplest barrel change on an AR15 platform is to pop out the two takedown pins and swap the upper. If I was dumping enough ammunition through an L6 to have to swap the barrel, I would pop the upper off and swap in a second L6 upper while the first upper cooled off. |

If you are considering the Lima-Six, we are bringing out a QD barrel system for it in the very near future. No alteration to the upper needed. J-SIX MLOK QD Handguard for the Lima-Six Belt Fed Upper. |

I went with the DFX mainly for the mag option. Yes, I have a few hundred rounds of ammo on belts, but having a lot of AR mags gives me A LOT more flexibility. I may consider a LimaSix, if there were a QD setup available… and it fits on my Black Widow Arms lower. Even more if it can use the A5/MG34 spring in it. Thought process would be a heavier upper for just belts. |
| I dont own one but Lima 6 seems to make the most sense. For civilian, and 80% of military applications, quick change barrels arent really a concern. For $4k savings over the competition seems like a no brainer. Im kicking myself for not getting in on the intro pricing. |

I cant stand the sales tactic of "buy now, it will be more expensive tomorrow!" We're doing the Costco hotdog thing as long as we can. |
