After many years I have acquired a gently used M82A1. No scope or rings included. 100 yard-500 yard likely range for shooting. I am likely getting a Leupold MK4 4.5-15x50 or maybe Nightforce. Are there any other specific scopes to consider? Badger rings or Barrett rings or other? |

Talley Tactical rings Badger would be good also LaRue if you need a quick detach setup. (you could run an expensive optic on more than one rifle ) Tangent Theta is about the best scope. (Expensive) Zeiss is nice and midway USA has some heavily discounted demos. Nightforce is a solid choice reliable adjustments. I wouldn’t pick Leupold but I have some. US Optics , Kahles, Heinsoldt, Schmidt Bender, IOR Valdada ( once your over 3K they all ought to be pretty dam good. I might be inclined to go cheap. Because you won’t shoot it often due to ammo cost. (Put great glass on something you shoot all the time. ) SWFA Super Sniper Gen2 just came out it’s a huge bargain at about $300 on Black Friday special . These are a solid choice for a rifle that you won’t actually shoot a lot, the fixed 16x can be had with either a MIL or MOA based reticle and knobs. New zero stop feature , several improvements. They are a very sturdy scope and will hold up to heavy recoil. ( I’ve broken Athlon and Vortex on a light weight .375 H&H so put those on lighter recoil guns and don’t over torque screws.) @Urimaginaryfrnd Thanks for posting your comment above about SWFA SS Gen 2 scopes. I was just looking at their web site last week and they were out of stock on almost everything. So I didn't hesitate, I have a SS 20x coming. This solves a big issue as far as what scope to get. Thanks again.

If you don't want a second mortgage for just one optic and a fixed power is fine, then a super sniper is the way. Glad to hear this. This is my exact set up lol. AR50 and SWFA 20x. Funny thing is that the rifle is waiting at my FFL and the scope is at home  . I am working out of state and won't be home until a few days before Christmas. My Christmas is going to be awesome LOL
