The Magpul ones have a better texture and go in and out of pouches especially multimag pouches better than either the original or based on what I've seen and read the AC unity ones. Magpul has the Australian military contract for mags that's literally why the Magpul Aug mags exist. Us getting them is just a bonus. Importantly and I think this is something overlooked the Magpul Aug mags use standard Gen 3 pmag floor plates. That means they can take all relevant accessories couplers extensions bipod feet etc all that. |
| I don’t see the reason for them. Magpul are cheap and good to go. The unity mp5 mags required some fitting but work. For range use, they are fine. Not sure I would want them in a self defense scenario. Plus I’m still sitting on a shit ton of Malaysian surplus mags. |

After having factory waffle mags pop rounds out while getting seating vigorously, I decided to try AC Unity mags. After fairly extensively testing 10 of them (several thousand rounds thru my training AUG) I ended up buying over 100 of them. To date I have had exactly zero problems with them. They’re very durable too. I’ve tried to break one (dropping loaded mag on concrete, forcefully stepping on it, banging it against wood barricade, etc.). That particular mag is still in my training mag pile and … zero issues. |
| I did Steyr's 2-day "AUG Operator's Course" a couple of years ago and decided to take some newly acquired Magpul and ACU magazines to see which ones worked better and which ones I liked better (took waffle mags as back-ups just in case, of course). Between the two, I preferred the ACU's...the Magpuls would hang up and require manual removal while the ACU's would drop free every time I hit the mag release. Both fed/functioned 100% so I sold the few Magpuls I had and stocked up on some ACU's. |

AC Unity is the best AUG mag on the market. They're drop-free while not being "loose". As mentioned before, they're also bombproof. The only malfunctions I have experienced with an AUG (and I've owned them since the mid 1990s) has been factory mag and MagPul mag related. I have never experienced any other issue through ... literally ... countless rounds fired through MANY AUGs (901s through 903s ... A3s, M1s, M2s). ACU is the way. |

The AC-Unity black magazines with the metal components are easily the best AUG mags you can get. Factory mags are good and iconic, but spit rounds. Insert a factory mag with vigor and watch that live round jump right out your ejection port - if you're lucky. MagPul mags suck. Oh they feed reliably enough and are better at the round-jump issue, but might hang up and are difficult to bolt-drop on, from a locked bolt - which is a known issue with some people with these. The ACU's just work. They don't round jump, they don't hang up on bolt-release, they drop free. I have plenty of mags and mostly retired my AUG since I like my RDB better, but if I were buying AUG mags and saw these for under $20, I'd buy a full set (i.e. at least 4; probably more) The PMags are only good for range-use and only as first mag, in a run. I dont' want to F' with "why isn't my bolt dropping when I hit the latch?" if it's anything other than playing - because that's what I get with PMags in my AUG. |

Which is ironic since PMAGs are usually top notch and they were specifically made for the Australians as a second-source alternate for their Austeyr guns. How the mighty have fallen. I too am a huge fan of the AC-Unity mags across the board. All the various mags Magpul said were impossible or too expensive or too limited in market to make, they’ve stepped in and nailed them. The only negative examples I have are the MP5 and AR10 mags being a little oversized for my PTRs and Aero M5/Tavor 7. I haven’t taken the time to fit them though, which at least they warn is possible given the variances among OEMs. |

Havnt tried the ACU AUG mags yet but I use AC unity mags for my Zastava ZPAP M85 (223 cal AK) and they work great. They appear a little flimsy but I havnt had a problem with one yet. I think I was buying them for around $10 each so its almost a disposable item (ammo inside costs 2X more). I actually prefer MAGPUL AUG mags to the OEM since the MAGPUL holds the rounds more securely. I will probably buy a few ACU AUG mags to try out. |
