Wanting to order one from Amazon, I see lots for under $50 bucks, just wanting one that works and isn’t a pain to use. What are you guys using ? |

You don't use those to make an EFT file. Those are for use as a security tool for unlocking a computer, like the fingerprint reader on a phone. If you want to DIY make an EFT file, get a fingerprint ink pad and some plain paper (or a FP card) and actually fingerprint yourself. Then take good pictures or high quality scans of those and us an EFT generation program like OpenEFT. Or you can do the paper cards and mail them to one of the places that will do the scanning for you. Or go to a PrintScan location and have it done. |

$8-$10 for a finger print pad online. Cigarette pack size, not the thumb print size like banks use. Paper cards are free from ATF. Tons of ways to get your now completed DIY paper fingerprint card turned into an .eft including a DIY process already posted in this thread. You can also send the completed card to a company like Hansohn Bros or Wojtek Weaponry. The conversion to .eft is $30+/- |

So always start at the most difficult part and roll to the easist part. So on your left hand, roll your pinky-index fingers from right to left and roll your thumb left to right. On your right hand, roll your pinky-index finger from left to right and roll your thumb from right to left. |

Appreciate the help, I’ll try and get to creating the prints and digitize them as well. I get this worked out then it’s wading thru creating a functional / winning format for the actual NFA digital filing for form 1 suppressors, with high chance of approval. Yay paperwork ! |

I bought one of those ~$6 two pack ink pads off of Amazon. Printed my own cards (you only need the card for format/proper spacing). Scanned the prints. Used a free software eft creator (do a search there's some good info on reddit). I have two approved so far, waiting on more that I just submitted. |

I really don’t understand why some people make getting something notarized into such a hassle. |

Just stepped into open eft, working on building an account / digital file now. Kinda spreading this annoyance out, doing a step a day, or every 2 days, as my patience for this crap ( gov paperwork / new computer programs etc, is very low, and annoyance high. Print cards ordered about 10 days ago Cards sat for a week before I created one yesterday. Open eft today. Once I get the file, prob be a day or two before I try logging into atf eforms, I’m sure that will take a day or two as I have no clue what my password etc is anymore as it’s been almost 10 years since Iv used it. Once I get into it….ill start looking around for a good format / info to insert / wording of paperwork for high chance of approval. Once I get THAT done, I’ll just change specs / size / caliber / serial number for each new one I file, keeping everything else the exact same. Yay ! Uggg But….baby steps still result in the job getting done, even if it’s a bit slower. Something I learned a while back, being slow / having motivation issues isn’t terrible, if you simply try to accomplish one or two things a day. Those 1 or 2 things , even if small steps, still add up very quickly to big things getting done, and big achievements / accomplishments by end of year. Usually I’m working on 4-5 different things at a time, accomplishing small steps for multiple projects, looking for parts, pieces, tooling, etc to build them out, which eventually gets multiple things getting completed at once, or close to it. Currently… still remodeling the garage, working on getting last few pieces of steel for my new 4x8 steel table upgrade, planning the trip to pick up this free lathe in Virginia in 2 months a 12 hour each way trip, Ugg… planning trip to Georgia next week to pick up tooling, cable, a busted side by side and four wheeler he sold us cheap, gotta rewire my trailer this weekend for that as turn signals are not working right, making prints for NFA, planning NFA form 1s, getting the garden planted, looking for a good deal on a 18000-25000 btu ac unit / cool bot / insulation for walk in freezer, wiring up conex for electric / walk in freezer, getting ready to put metal siding on wifes barn, and haul cattle to suction, .theres plenty more, just explaining, it’s never just one thing at a time. |

Got the prints converted to a digital file !  Took forever, having to dick with my printer, install, uninstall, set up….trying to scan them. Took a damn hour to scan the prints. Ugg. Currently working to get my atf e forms username and password. Once I get those I’ll call it a day and go work outside, then tomorrow I’ll start working on generating a successful form 1 eform format with high chance of success, I’ll dig thru the arfcom NFA forum to look for suggestions on what to put down for information in the boxes that’s been approved… then once I get that winning formula, I’ll just need to swap out size / specs/ caliber / serial number for each new submission. Probably, I’ll send the exact same form thru approx 10 times over a month only changing serial number. Say, create 6, 4” 9mm suppressors. Then next month run off 6 more 9mm suppressors at 6” length. Then change specs, calibers and run off 6-10more of a different caliber. then change again the next month.. etc etc. Rinse , repeat, .22LR, 9mm, 45acp, .223, .308, 458, etc.basically a long version and a k version of each. Probably use titanium tube / construction, more expensive, but the construction/ completion of these form 1s, will be spread out over a decade or more, so not a big deal doing 1-2 a month or so. |

Literally, load model, hit print. Only two dollars in filament and a couple of bucks for a thread adapter and you've got a 22 suppressor that will last thousands of plinking rounds.    Sure, you got put into it the cost of a 3-D printer but the reward is suppressors for dollars per can. My buddy has 6 kids, now each kids has their own 22lr with a 3d printed form 1 can. He couldn't afford that before $0 form 1 stamps. 6 x $200 x $cost of commercial can so 6 x $200 x $199 = ~$2400 3d printed 22ls cans 6 x $0 x $cost of filament so 6 x $0 x $2 = ~$12 I don't know..... man... I just don't know.... I just don't get how everyone that actually has a printer and is into suppressors just isn't 3-D printing form 1 cans right now. |

Apparently….on the form 1 application…. It asks for pictures of the equipment you plan to use to build the suppressor, and what materials you’re going to use. Well, I plan to use a lathe I’m picking up in 2 months from another arfcommer, so I guess I’ll just use a picture of it even though it’s not here yet. Honestly…I don’t guess it even matters, as say you didn’t own a lathe at all….but planned to use a lathe you planned to buy a year in the future….and planned to build it with that exact model lathe a year later….so I guess it’s about what you intend to use, not necessarily what you already currently possess. |

My printscan took me a while because nobody in the store knew ANYTHING about how it works, so I had to sit and figure it out myself. Still, pretty worth it. It's probably still faster than doing your own and fiddling with the open source EFT package, unless your budget just doesn't allow the extra $30 or $40 for printscan. Pro tip going in: Clean your fingers with the cleaner they give you. Then apply a TINY bit of the "moistener" that they give you to help your fingerprints show up. However tiny of a bit you used, it will be too much. So give each finger a try, if it's too dark, wipe a little bit of the moistener off, and try again. You'll get down to where it's correct in terms of "exposure", for lack of a better word. The other issue is keeping your ENTIRE fingerprint in contact while rotating your finger. You know you see police on tv aggressively holding down someone's finger and rolling it for prints? Do that to yourself with the other hand. |
