I have an Omega MP5 that I SBRed a while back and then I bout an AP5. Is Omega still around? I don't see them for sale any more. The AP5 came with a flash hider, but I can't get it to mount to the tri-lug on the Omega. Any ideas why?   |
| I have an ap5 flash hider that doesn't fit on either of my ptr guns with the thread protector on. If i take the thread protector off, it fits. I thing the tolerances are just a little too snug. |

Yeah, I thought they were a Bailey family company, though Wade in this case. I have one of their UMP clone receivers. |

I've not seen any Omega products for a while. I bought an MP5RS Omega receiver from Wade Bailey on GB in 2021 and he fixed the magwell/mag release issue I was having without problems. It was my understanding that he was liquidating left over stock at that time. To my eye the Omega guns and the Special Weapons Gen 10 receivers are pretty darn similar and given the family relationship I think that they are likely made using the same tooling/fixtures. Try checking for paint on the three lug. Sometimes the paint was too thick. |
| They had one variant model that I wish PTR would make a version of. It was a full size, with an MP5SD style forehead, and an MP5K style 3 lug and threaded barrel. A compact gun that looked much like an MP5SD, but without the ported barrel. I don't want to bleed 115 gr. down to subsonic. If I want subsonic performance I prefer heavier bullets. |

I’m sure you are already aware, but that’s exactly what the Century/MKE AP5-SD is. K barrel under an SD cage in a full size receiver. Great with a suppressor as is, none of the SD maintenance. Or great as an SD conversion starting point.  The downside, since that exists, PTR won’t touch it as a production model because competing with the Turks on a new product is an uphill battle. I would have loved to see that from them too. |

Omega was an independent company run by Wade Bailey, using the Bailey and HKP parts lines. Atlantic was the biggest dealer for them but not the only one. I met him personally at the Tulsa show when he first introduced the Gideon Shadow (UMP Clone) receivers which are the same original mold source that Tom Bostic, DEFGUNZ, and S5 have since used, with changes. I have 3 of his guns, the two roller locks (MP5SD clone and MP5/10 clone) have never had a problem. The UMP clone had some issues and he worked on it several times, eventually solved by using an HK barrel. |
