I found this in my stash . My dad had black powder pistol and rifle. CVA. I found these patches last night. It looks to be wonder lube patches. But the can says oiled patches. I see TOTF sales something that looks just like it. But these are huge compared to regular ball patch. It’s like 2 1/8 “. Is it a lube your barrel patch after you cleaned it to put away. ? Also for future reference, those are nowadays kind of spendy for what they are. Just get the cotton muzzleloader patches, and when you're done, soak one in oil and coat the bore. I use hoppes 9 benchrest oil |
| I know some folks don’t put any petroleum products in their BP firearms. I’m to damn new at this to know the do’s and don't s I have Ballistal and every CLP known to mankind . I have read hoppes lubricating gun oil is base mineral oil. Which is good for BP shooters. Am I correct on this ? Wardawg |

Am I correct on this ? Wardawg The whole "no petroleum" thing is one of the most over blown things in black powder shooting. Supposedly some petroleum based BULLET LUBES can create bad fouling. Yet all these years and I have not one been able to have it happen, and I don't know anyone who has. The oil you put in your bore is not a problem. |
