I bought this upper used. I figure it is probably a custom Cerakote color. I would like to match a lower and will more than likely just ship one to "my guy" with the handguard to use as a reference. But if you guys think it is just a basic Patriot Brown I might just rattle can a lower. I know they will wear differently and not match perfectly. I think that is just fine. I am not super picky about having perfect looking rifles. I know it isnt always easy to tell from pictures but any idea what rattle can colors might come close to matching this?

Hard to tell online. Monitor settings and camera's trying to equalize photos affect the color we actually see. My guess for a non custom color, would go to Chocolate Brown. That's only because of the DD rail, and Chocolate Brown is one of the closest colors to Daniel Defense MilSpec+, so there's a chance it was done to match a Milspec+ lower or for a clone build. The more I look at it... are the upper and rail different colors? Edit: ScoutH57 may be on to something. Looking at the damage on the upper the coating looks a little "thick" to me. Not typical of a Cerakote application. It also has a decent sheen that, on some browns, would require mixing more hardener in which isn't common. Might be Duracoat. Looks similar to what I'm seeing online too. |

Thanks for the input guys. I actually stuck this brown upper on my Geissele Super duty FDE anodized lower and it looks really nice. They dont match but the compliment each other which is what I like. I dont really go for perfect match if that makes sense. I built that Geissele lower for a upper that was mostly FDE. It had a VLTOR FDE upper and a Centurion FDE Alumahide rail. I will probably just put that FDE upper on a rattle can FDE lower since that us a easier color to "match". Sorry for the crappy lighting
