I inherited a couple dozen cans of Tok ammo.

What would be the best way to burn through this stuff?

PPSh / PPS ?

M10/M11 with upper?

AR with custom lower or mag adapter?

Sell it at .35/rd and buy 9mm at .20/rd?

Don't forget CZ-52, TT-33's, and M57.

But it also depends on the country of manufacturer. As I recall, from best to worst,

1) Czechoslovakian (and the steel core variants)
2) Yugoslavian
3) Romanian
4) Polish
5) Bulgarian

Not enough Russian was imported before Clinton banned it.

And before someone brings it up, there is no evidence whatsoever that there are separate pistol and subgun loads. It's an Internet myth stemming from 3 factors:

A. Variance among lots and countries. Some of the ammo is definitely snappier than others, but that's mostly due to shitty commie QC.

B. Some Czech ammo was supplied on stripper clips, ready to reload into a Czech subgun (I forget the model.) That doesn't mean it's a different load - is 7.62x51 in links different from bulk?

C. Some Bulgarian proof loads made it into the supply chain. These really are bad news, and there have been a couple of kabooms. But it's easy to spot - the boxes (or wrappers?) are pink. And I don't think it was imported in cans, though I might be wrong.

Oh, and for the AR variant it's the upper that's tricky.

The Mean Arms Endo mags can be, pretty easily, modded to feed 7.62x25mm. KAK Ind has a on YouTube showing how to do it. Basically you just remove one of the follower guide struts.

KAK makes blow back AR15 barrels. But the cartridge really calls for a DI upper. I made one years ago using a 5.45 bolt that also used an oversized firing pin. I think the 5.45 parts were from M1S.

ETA: 7.62x25mm might be a good match for a custom CMMG RDB barrel and upper, as well.

I've got plently of Tok pistols and AR uppers for the stuff, but at semi-auto rates, it'll take 10 years to use this up and I need a retirement hobby.

Go to a forced re-set trigger.

Or buy a M16.

I wouldn't bother with an expensive firearm / upper in 7.62x25.  Once you burn through that free inherited ammo you're stuck with a boat anchor.  Either sell the ammo, trade it, or buy a cheap gun like:

I have a DI AR in Tok with an 8" barrel. It runs awesome! If the Tenko ever gets a determination that would be sweet on a Mac. Otherwise M16 should run it fine.

I run 147gr 7.62x25 in that upper. Runs awesome!

PPSh has the ROF to burn through ammo. Mags and parts have gotten really expensive.

CZ52 and the PPS are also great options.

CZ26? Then rebarrel it to 9mm when you run out of ammo.

+1.  I was about to post the same thing.
Converting a 9MM Endo Mag for use with KAK Industry 7.62x25 Tokarev and 22 TCM AR15

However, I think the spring loaded ejector CMMG Banshee's suck for full auto as the spring's fail too fast.
But now you can buy the FE (Fixed Ejector) Banshee retrofit kit: https://cmmg.com/fixed-ejector-retrofit-kit-9mm

As seen at this link, I modify straight blowback barrels for the CMMG RDB system: https://c3junkie.com/?page_id=1882
You could do this yourself or I could do it for you if you don't have the capability.

I think this would be the least expensive way assuming you already have a RR / RDIAS / RLL or even a SS / FRT etc...
When you run out of ammo, sell the custom 7.62 TOK barrel and modified Endomags and then drop in a 9mm CMMG RDB compatible barrel.

DI tokarev upper and a magwell adapter is much easier. Reload the brass of you want to keep going, I do 147gr Tok subs, or just swap the barrel and bolt out for whatever caliber you want if you don't want to run Tok. Hell, can probably do a 9mm DI too with the same magwell and a new barrel but the same bolt.

RMW used to sell a 9mm 'DI' with the caveat that you must run specific clean reloads.  Friend of mine has one.  Even with the recommended loads it can't make it through a match without choking.
I personally don't want anything that uses a gas port for a pistol caliber.  Just too dirty.  With the CMMG RDB system you can use the same lower configuration for gas operated calibers just like you can with a gas operated setup.

M11/9 might be one of the easiest to do, just needing a barrel.  With the caveat that you would need a receiver with a STEN grip conversion, as standard 9mm mags are likely too short for the Tok round.

I have a heavy metal group DI tok upper. No such requirements were told to me and it eats everything I toss at it. It's fantastic. Fouling ist really an issue. I think the first time and last time I cleaned it was when I chopped 8" off the barrel. It's been a while.

Try a different powder. I've played that game. Ended with something like 5gr of AA#7 being the best thing for my upper. The load is nearly identical for 110gr and 147gr. Fully burned in 8" and to my surprise cycles great. Faster powders and slower powders failed me. I didn't expect that as the pressure at the gas port is way lower than something like tite group. I'd have to check my load data but I believe I'm around 18KSI pressure.

Arnt sten mags also too short for Tok? Probably would need a 45ACP gun but I believe 45 is also shorter than Tok.

I have not tried to stuff a Tok in one of my Sten mags.

My comments regarding being dirty was in reference to your comment regarding doing a gas operated 9mm not reloading 7.62x25.

This thread is about tokarev, not 9mm.

And my response was essentially to not shoot garbage as I shoot basically garbage and everything stays as clean as DI can.

I also took the time to suggest ways to get that upper to run reliably.

For the OP, comblock guns are awesome. M16 is way more versatile. Drop a Tok upper on one and have fun.

I made a conversion barrel for a MK760 that used VZ-25 mags.  It required a heavier spring and buffer.  I just made a cut on the spine of the mags to engage the mag catch.  Ran great and fast.  I sold it when I burned through the Romanian x25 I had, as I wasn’t interested in buying more after the price doubled from $70/tin.

Unless you have a PPSH or PPS-43 just sell all but a can or 2 of it (and only keep it if you want a Tokarev or CZ-52).

There were some 7.62 TOK chambered STENs made and sold commercially at one time. The magazines were modeified. IIRC the rib in the back of the mag was cut out and replaced with a flat piece of steel to get the length for the Tokarev cartridges.

since the boxes are usually 72 rounds in size might as go with the flow and get a Ppsh 41 with drums. Love shooting mine.
