I have a Team Wendy (bought it back when they were cool) ballistic helmet and although I like it, it's just too heavy for my neck which is rapidly falling apart. I'd appreciate something lighter at this point. I was looking at the Ops Core helmets. Look pretty good. Any other options for someone looking to mount thermal and a PVS? |

The newer FAST BUMP (FAST SF cut) is a solid option. About the same weight as the carbon but less expensive. Definitely go Ops-Core. Their ARC rail ecosystem is the absolute best one out there. |

Is the rigidity between the Bump and the Carbon noticeable? I saw it's a 1/4 pound less which would be nice, but my main concern is I usually use thermal and NV at the same time, with movement to different positions over rough terrain. If it flexes under that weight I could see that being annoying. |

If it flexes under that weight I could see that being annoying. Yes and no  From a practical use standpoint, the difference is negligible, and while wearing it you won't experience any issues. If you were to take it off your head squeeze it together you'd see some flex whereas the Carbon is solid. The current FAST BUMP uses the Lux Liner which features an impact liner that covers the entire inside of the shell and aids in rigidness. With that said, the Carbon is a superior helmet and I actually own two of them, so if budget allows you won't be disappointed, but likewise, if budget doesn't allow I'm confident you'll be happy with the regular FAST BUMP (current gen). The best advice I can give you is to use the Ops-Core sizing guide and measure BOTH your head circumference and chinstrap to determine your correct size. We have the sizing guide inside our product listings in the picture gallery. You can also find it on the Gentex / Ops-Core website. Measure twice, buy once  The most common school of thought is to select the larger size if you are in between sizes. However, this isn't always the best solution. Things to consider for example: Large = circumference 22 - 23 1/4" and chinstrap 26 - 29" X-Large = circumference 23 1/4 - 24 3/8" and chinstrap 27 1/2 - 30 1/2" Say you measure 23 1/4" circumference and 27" chinstrap. If you go with XL, you may not be able to tighten your circumference enough to make it snug and you will not be able to make the chinstrap snug. Since you're running dual band and moving on foot a lot you will want to be able to tighten things up. Alternatively, if you're in a cold climate and will wear a thick beanie then the XL will be better fit. You could buy aftermarket pads to tighten things up. I like my carbons more than I liked the newer bump. I feel like the worm dial kit is more comfortable than the occ dial, if that helps at all. Will is spot on about the sizing. I'm right in between large and extra large and went a size up initially. I wasn't able to get it tight enough to be comfortable without my rhino 2 running out of adjustment. I'm very happy using the shorter pads in a large now. |
| Have team Wendy and the new opscore. Padding didn’t feel as good first time with the op so i was disappointed. The padding isn’t as soft as my TW but some how it fits better. I was letting someone hunt with the opscore to try my best gear. I won’t be going back to TW if I have the choice. I didn’t go carbon and I don’t regret it. |

Still remain a fan of ballistic helmets. Long time grappler (since high school 100 years ago LOL) so probably have a strong neck. Galvion Caiman for me, feels as light as a skateboard type (bump) helmet, but has ballistic protection. Definitely not the cheapest option but uber comfortable, even before you add the 4D pads!!! |

I went from the Team wendy LTP (pre hill dawg) because at the time I wasnt a fan of the shroud on the OG ops core bump. Since the new ops core bump came out and my TW was showing some wear I decided to give it a try. Its weird because the padding on the ops core does feel different and just holding it in your hands you would think it wouldnt be as comfortable. but as soon as you pop it on everything just works and feels good. The position of the nape padding fit me much better than the TW and I like the ARC rails a lot more. |
