No cooking bullets today, instead went over to Shooter709's. We tuned a new Dillon PM, and installed a quick release and an Easy Dial on it. Changed over 550 from 45 Colt to 10mm using new Dillon dies. Got dies and belling adjusted and once set PM dropped exact charges. 9.0 Blue Dot. Using 180 gr plated bullets. Got 100 rounds loaded before stopping. |

Fabricated up some baskets that will let the airsoft BB’s drop through, but keep the 9mm and larger boolits for powder coating: Attached File Attached File 3 baskets total. One in the oven baking the powder coat on. One on deck. Then one in the hole. My idea is just to round robin the baskets through trying to assembly line powder coat boolits. EDIT: I’ll probably tack everything up on Monday or Tuesday next week. I ran out of argon / CO2 mix. EDIT #2: or run 2 toaster ovens, staggering them |

Went shooting at Shooter709's. My reloading buddy I go load with. Fired his 500 S&W magnum, 1 full cylinder. Recoil was no issue, but the muzzle blast got your attention. Nowhere near as bad as I was led to believe. Ya, we were shooting some loads we loaded about a year ago. Had my new to me 1873 Springfield Trapdoor Carbine (made in 1893) out trying the same loads I used for the 1873 Trap Door rifle. Loaded home cast powder coated 340 and 405 gr RNFP's. In case you don't know, a 45-70. My loads were on the light side, valuable 140 year old rifle, and I used Unique, 2400, and IMR-4198. My Unique loads (found in Handloader magazine) used Unique from the old steel 8 oz square can. So about 60 years old. Worked great. In my loading notes I called it Antique Unique. Was shooting off hand at 25 yards, pistol range. All loads shot centered 7 inches high, about a 4-5 inch 20 shot group. Looking forward to shooting it at range, now that I know it shoots good. Smacks steel plates hard is an understatement. Shot some modern stuff too, 32 H&R mag, 9mm, and 357. Perfect weather, about 80 degrees and no wind, and good friends made it a great day. |

I've been working on a new area to get back into reloading and set up my new xl750 (last press I loaded on was a lee 1000). The bench is still a WIP, the press is slowly being assembled as I get to know parts, fit, how it functions etc. I got the wiring finished in the 3d printed case feeder, and printed out a few parts to hold the wrenches and tubes. Also got the press mounted on the inline fabrication rail plate and mount, and the mount fastened to the t-tracks. |

Got the rest of my 40 cal PC bullets sized. When that was finished converted APP for decapping. Sundays shooting, got the brass sorted. Sorting trays got a work out today. Now trays of 45 ACP, 357, 9mm, 380, and 32 H&R mag ready for the Lee APP to decap before wet tumbling. |

Haven't reloaded in a long bit so after taking my 20” 6.5G to the range to test some loads I came home to tinker. Loaded up 10 120 Berger boat tail over 28.5 grains of Win 748 with BR-4 primers. The Berger load data, 27.6 grains, is very light compared to data for other bullets of the same weight and same powder. So I’m going to try these and check for pressure signs. Max load for Hornady 120 is 29.6 grains. But they had great SD so there is promise for this powder. Velocity was very slow though, 200fps off what I’m getting with other powders so trying to tinker a bit. |

Loaded up some 5.7 Johnson with 40 grain sierras and Vmax's. I'm at 2800 fps without pushing it with 12.5 grains of 4227. Attached File |

There is a powder coating bullets thread going on in GD, so my apologies if you have seen these pics already. I gave up on the zombie green powder coat. I switched over to red. On another forum I am on, I took another poster’s advice by going to a Rubber Maid container to do the swirling in. It still has the #5 on the bottom: Attached File Attached File 103 boolits got put through the Lee push through sizing die today (0.401”) and got baked on with just one coat of the red. |

My reloading bench has been unusable since February. The Xfinity cable connection from teh street just happens to be located in the wall behind the bench. We were notified by the cable company a new cable had to be run from the street and the house because what we have is 50 years old and obsolete. The cable was finally replaced 2 days ago. Most of the bullets and brass stored under the bench had to be moved for access and I just put everything back in it's place last night. Can't believe how many calls it took with the cable company, along with their techs visiting multiple times and all of 7 months to finally get it it done. Time to blow the dust off the bench and start reloading again.... |

Yesterday finished wet tumbling the brass i shot recently. Load of 32 H&R, 357 with 380 so as to not mix 380 with 9mm. I have the 380 sorting screen and it works well to keep 380 and 9mm separate. 2 loads of 9mm, and 100 45-70 cases took 2 loads. 357 and 380 sorted to headstamp. 357 back in 50 round plastic boxes, 380 on 50 cal can. 9mm and 45-70 should be dry and the 9mm will get sorted. Some of the brass wasn't mine so I will be on the look out for crimped primer cases. |

Current project is finding a load for my new to me M94 in 44 mag. I want to shoot my home cast PC 200 gr RNFP. Goal is not a full power load, just a fun shooting load. Recently trimmed 100 cases for this project, all FC. Consulted 5 manuals and decided what powders and charges I wanted to try. IMR-4227, 2400, Red Dot, and Unique. Also True Blue which I haven't tried in 44 mag yet. Got 25 if the IMR-4227, and 25 of the 2400 loaded today. What I think I will settle on, so 25 each. The other 50 cases were stored wet tumbled brass (50 cal ammo can). Note said in 2020. They were not up to my bling standards, so they are spending the night tumbling in corn cob. |

I cleaned out my spent primer bins. I have a flexible tube under both of my 650s that empties into a bin. They were...........overflowing.  I filled up this 1.75L bottle and it sure is heavy!  Note the die wrenches. Both have magnets from old hard drives epoxied to the back side, also check out that 3/8" steel plate.

Took my boys to the range today. Attached File Attached File Chrono tested a couple loads. Not much in the way of extra homeless brass Got a small bucket of range scrap lead. Sorted brass when we came home and have a load in the tumbler. |

Loaded 50 44 mag with home cast 255 gr SWC PC. Clone of Lyman 421429. Used a Blue Dot load from my old notes. Sized 100 45-70 cases and got them tumbling in corn cob to remove the lube. |

| Ran my first test batch of 9mm with my new Dillon 750. 100 rounds only took about 15 minutes! Definitely going to take some brain rewiring from the 550 to get used to my left hand doing nothing but placing a bullet on a charged case. Case feeder was giving me fits though. Jamming up constantly on the "wedge." Didn't matter if it was adjusted up, down, one end higher or lower, etc. Ended up feeding better with it removed. I did notice it had a nice gouge in it so I clipped a wee bit of the corner off, sanded it smooth, and put a piece of duct tape over that corner after doing some online research. We'll see if that works. Ordered the DAA wedge anyway. |
| Went out “antiquing” with the wife at some shops in another town. She got a new white gold bracelet, I got a set of 8” Mitutoyo digital calipers. They were the older style, about 25 years old, and had never been used, battery had never been opened or installed. As much as the newer Mitutoyo stuff has been copied by the chinese, I am happy with the older stuff. Besides my early 1990’s 6” set is still going strong, I use them all the time and trust them a lot more than the cheaper brands. Overkill for reloading, but that won’t be all I use them for. |

Added 2 4 gang electrical outlets to the bench area, and started sorting and cleaning brass so I can figure out what I actually do and do not have. Found brass for 3 calibers I don't shoot, and brass for several I do! ( Been collecting pick up brass for a little while). |

Loaded some more RMR 124 gr 9mm fmj. Last time out I had two rounds fail to go into battery on my CZ 75, so I checked MOAL. I had a note on the press saying 1.150 but many that I measured were closer to 1.160. I set it for 1.130 and I hope that fixes things. I was already having issues with the RMR 147 gr fmj and since I have a couple thousand already loaded, I am just running those in the PCR. I guess I need to pay a little more attention. In the past, if it fit in the mag, it was going to run.

I use 1 .10 as my 9 mm OAL, which feeds perfect in my CZ 85. Also works fine in all my other 9mm's using standard 9mm data. On topic, found a nice Redding powder measure for $35. Came with a stand. |
