Emailed them but got no response. Have been trying to find this out for some time. Does anyone know who makes these coated hardcast flat nose 255gr bullets? TIA. The bullet that underwood and buffalo bore use is. the mold I've shown you above. The bullet buffalo bore receives from rimrock weighs 254gr-254.5, it's close enough to 255 to call it that. Pull an underwood bullet and weigh it, it comes from a mold cut with the same cherry. The magma mold mentioned above is made to drop a nominal 250gr bullet using hardball alloy 92-6-2. If the alloy deviates from that at all, such as having more lead content, it will be heavier. Lyman makes a 250gr 45 mold called a 454190, it's a round nose flat point profile, it mimics the old factory load bullet. Lyman molds are made for lyman #2 alloy to drop the weight they are described as. That's 90-5-5, if you use straight coww, it will be 260gr+. Lee makes molds for 10-1 alloy? I think. They have a 255gr rnfp, if coww are used it will drop 260-264gr, but the mold says 255. The magma mold that is mentioned above can be made to drop 260gr plus with an alloy that contains more lead, but the mold still says magma 45-250 fn on the side. That is the bullet underwood is using. |
