I’ve owned a number of them starting with a 3 digit serial from the very first batch imported. They are not HK’s best but I still like them. Their cost for the 10rd mags probably keeps popularity lower than it would be if the gun shipped with 2 instead of 1 and others were reasonable. The thumb hole stock is one of the most comfortable I used (and I lived thru the AWB). |

Recoil is rather abrupt. Other than that they’re fine. I used one for HD for an about a year. 10rds seemed fine for that role. As a range gun they’re going to draw attention and are reasonably accurate. Again, the blow back action from a 45 sucks if you’re use to a roller delayed 9. |
| Only worth it if you convert to a UMP, in my opinion. A 16” .45 limited to 10 round proprietary magazines doesn’t really float my boat. I’d choose a Ruger LC carbine over a USC for that market segment. Cheaper gun, plus cheaper and higher capacity mags that are more available. |
| Are they the same as they were 20+ years ago? That's when I sold mine after realizing I was too cheap to do an UMP conversion. It was pretty accurate and reliable but at the end of the day it's another blowback gun. I haven't shot a Stribog but from my research you'd have a hard time getting me to pick a USC over a Stribog and if you don't mind blowback then there are all kinds of options that are much less expensive. You can do an AR or Jawbone. |
