I was talking about the Preaxis attempt at a group build buy and parts being made in the US in the 2000-10s. There is also a company making a very limited run of SA80s rifles that is close to museum quality. I would have to dig out the website. They were asking 12k and had like less than 30 spots to take orders. So far, I know of only two real L85/L86 in the US. One at the Knight collection L85. The second is the Battlefield L86 LMG. EM85 Found it. |

Yup, there are people in income tax brackets way above the average AR15.com Joe and serious collectors who would not bat an eye at that price for getting a true L85. $12,000 is affordable compared to getting a FAMAS here in the U.S. these days, or even a decent transferable machinegun. Sven Manticore Arms While I might agree with you they have been out there for several months now within the bullpup community and still hadn't sold out the initial run of 40 guns they claimed to be building with original parts. The ordering section of the website is broken and in one location they say that it is 30 guns and not 40. The have been in a concerted push in the last few weeks to release stuff via social media so I don't think they had the rush they were hoping for. |

12k is for the A1/A2 rifles, which is gonna be a very small limited run because it uses some original parts (which if you know, is NOT easy to get outside the UK). Here is the ad from the site: "We currently only have original parts to complete 100 rifles. There is no guarantee of more parts beyond this run of 100 rifles. These rifles have original Enfield factory parts such as the magazine-well welded into them. along with a number of original components that no other rifles will have but The EM85 Collector series. They also come with a detailed collectors manual, hard case, certificate of authenticity, HK mag, and British army ration brew kit. But, they're also gonna be producing the A3 variant fully in house and won't use original Enfield parts, that will be listed for $4.5k, so MUCH cheaper than the A1/A2 hardcore collector series rifles. I mean yeah, still pricey, but for something that's practically unobtainium anywhere in the civilian world, I'd say that's quite reasonable  . People seem to really underestimate how expensive firearm manufacturing can be, especially something built from the ground up like these EM85s. Oh, and they'll also be making minor dimensional tweaks to the internal design in order to make it much more reliable than the military ones. Of course, that's only what they claim, as none are in circulation for us to test, but having some hope doesn't hurt lol. I'll certainly be getting one if they will truly deliver what they promise.

This is really cool... Really really cool. I just recently purchased the A&K version and I'm very happy with it. Might even get an L86 from him. I really hope that this one sells well though. It's just that the timing isn't the best, with the A&K one just coming out and all. |
