| I got this for my Scorpion and while I’m satisfied with how it works, I’m seriously considering going back to the original barrel with the 3-lug I was running previously. My issue is the maintenance, especially the difficulty of cleaning the barrel after shooting. The system really isn’t designed to be taken apart frequently, and I usually have to remove my handguard to access any of the joints. It’s difficult to run brushes and patches through the barrel with the suppressor mounted. I usually use a flexible pull cord, like an Otis, but that generally doesn’t work because it gets hung up inside the suppressor. A rigid cleaning rod would work better, but it would have to go in through the muzzle end because the Scorpion receiver prevents a straight shot from the chamber end like an AR. And then there’s eventually needing to clean the outside of the ported barrel. I don’t know, maybe a SD system isn’t for me. Any thoughts or experiences? |

I feel like I'm missing a piece of the puzzle. I have the BRT SD set up on AR9. It's just a hub adapter, I've "fused" mine with rocksett. Comes off as one unit like a true mp5 SD suppressor would. To clean barrel externally I use a bronze brush from harbor freight. I pull complete suppressor -adapter off and run bore snake. As long as you're happy running subs, no reason for SD set up. The Novox adapter isn’t quite like the BRT adapter. The general concept is the same, but done differently. That’s the thing, the big draw seems to being able to run 124 and 115 grain supersonic ammo and make it subsonic for suppression purposes, but I already have a bunch of other suppressed PCCs that I buy subsonic ammo for, so I’m not really saving money, plus reducing the performance of ammo by slowing it down. I don’t see that I’m gaining anything over just getting subsonic ammo in the first place. Seems it more of a MP5-SD cool factor than anything else. |

I too reload and for a long time was not interested in any SD setups. I used to shoot the SMG match at Knob Creek and watched a guy with a full auto MP5SD dump 3 thirty round mags into a popper and not knock it down as and there was a penalty for not taking the target down. While shooters running 147Gr had no issues. Fast forward to today, the Knob Creek SMG match is no more and I shoot at the SMG match in Florida at Port Malabar where you have 22LR rimfire guys shooting the same match so knock down power is not a thing at this match. I also have a teenage son shooting with me and he doesn't have the upper body strength to run my 9mm setup with a big muzzle can on the end. As a reloader, you can get 124Gr projectiles for sometimes half the price as 147Gr from American Reloading. I came up with an adjustable SD setup as discussed on my site here: https://c3junkie.com/?page_id=3816 Here in FL being so hot, I don't want to bleed off as much gas as if I was in a northern state or higher altitude. Also, if you look at that link you will see that factory Aguila is subsonic out of a 5" barrel and you would think, why bother go SD if you can get ammo like that? In my testing, I still bleed off ammo like that but only a small amount. Reason being is that I can get away with a much shorter and lighter can than if it was just muzzle mounted.  If I block off all the ports it is still subsonic in FL but noticeably louder. PIcture below are some other setups with short / compact cans that don't sound great as muzzle cans but these all sound great when combined with the SD expansion chamber.  You can also achieve a state where the BCG doesn't bottom out being very smooth as seen in my high speed video here: Now this is all with the CMMG RDB system but I would think some of this may still be applicable to you using the Novox setup with your Scorpion. I know there is the Nexus delayed blowback setup for the Scorpion as well but I have no first hand experience with that. |

Its really fun to shoot but cleaning and maintenance is definitely more in-depth vs just a standard direct thread. I put 1k through ours for a review and afterwards when i went to break it down for cleaning and b roll it was pretty carbon locked.
