Has anyone built a bullpup with this system? Read about this in the AR15 section. Just curious if this system works well. Considering a AR bolt action in 6 ARC if I would do this. https://reapweaponries.com/product/scy/ |

Does the bolt action upper require a buffer tube? |

You've got me thinking about a bolt action bullpup again... I don't know about the others but a Bear Creek upper appears to have about 1.5-2" of the carrier extend past the back of the upper reciever, when the bolt group is fully open. I sent them a message asking if that part can be shortened. The Bear Creek looks like it might be usable on the Scy without modification. But, the FM upper requires a plug to be in place on the lower. There wouldn't be enough clearance to open the bolt with it in place. Swapping uppers would be less easy to do unless the Bear Creek can be modified. |

Can you post a picture of yours? Was looking at a 18 inch bolt action upper from BCA in 6 ARC. Any cycling issues with yours? Just looked at the AR15 section where I got this information. It was yours posted. If you have other pictures, please post them. Any magazine issues? |

If you go back to that thread, there is also pictures of another bullpup i built in 6.5 Grendel on page 11 or 12 I think. So far i have built 3 bullpup bolt actions. One on a uintah upper with an A3 Triad, and a pair of 6 ARCS on the BCA bolt action using the Reap SCY and their stocks, one was for my Uncle. As for magazines i have used i dont remember the brand but i do use both the 27 round and 5 round magazines from my 6.5 Grendel gas gun. As for your question about cycling, my BCA upper cycles great. However I didnt not use the bolt from BCA. In both the 6 Arc builds we used higher quality bolts. My uncles did have issues with cycling at first. I had to take one of the screws for the bolt handle to the grinder to shave of a bit from the length of the bolt. The bolt, for the handle, when tightened down would actually touch and torque the actual bolt with in the carrier causing it to bind. One of of the pages on the BCA threads there is a lot of good information on the BCA bolt action and how to address them. The BCA bolt action is not as smooth as the one from Uintah Precision or a traditional bolt action. As for the Reap, there are both pro's and cons, depending on what your looking to get out of the platform. The 6 Arc in the pictures you found was built to allow my uncle to walk in the woods and hunt. His only complaint with his rifle is the trigger,..... and that is because it is not a 3 pound pull, with no no creep, or over travel. It breaks around 4 to 4.5 pounds. His weighs around the 7 pound mark with scope and an empty mag. He loved how well it moved and transitioned from resting to transitioning from window to window in a small deer blind. It has has since become his favorite hunting rifle. |

| The Reap clam shells around a standard AR lower with all the lower parts installed minus the grip. So to make a bullpup bolt action rifle, a BCA bolt action upper, a Solo Straight Pull upper, or a Uintah Precision upper, is the easiest way to go. I listed them them in order of price from lowest to most expensive. You have read about the BCA upper and some of the issues people had with them. As for the Solo Straight Pull it really only works good for cartridges based on the 223/556 brass. the Uintah Precision is expensive, currently $1,425 and up based on the website as of 2/2/26. Another thing about the Uintah Precision, it is only compatible with certain triggers, and their own trigger comes standard with the upper for the listed price. |

Yes. This is a BCA I built. You just chop the carrier right past where the back of the firing pin protrudes and you are good to go. Attached File |

Got a BCA upper... It's not 100% compatible with a SCY. Where the screws are on the handguard won't seat properly. Not enough room between the two sides of the chassis. I'll have to trim an approximate 1.25" x .15" piece of plastic from each side. Doesn't seem to be a structurely critical area. |
