Nothing goes better with a $100 mosin, then a $100 suppressor.

Except I Will also need a $100 griffin mount for it too

Only problem is, the two M44's I have.... if I have them threaded will the bayonet still work? If not I would put it on the 91/30 but that would be 6ft long

Just use a thicker than normal thread protector. I'm doing a 91/30 I have already chopped up from before I knew better. Gonna have at least 4inches taken off.

You'll need to weld a bayonet mount to the suppressor.

Hey Shooters, this is Darrell from SDTA here. I want to say thank you for your support and business. If you have looked at our web site you will see we give a lot of time and money back to our Nations warfighters. I started a program called Weapons4 Warriors to give weapons to veterans. Your support makes this happen. I salute and thank you.

Now for the fun stuff,

I have noticed there is a lot of Preppers and Machinists making the patent pending parts I designed. Rather than fight them (for now) I am relying the gun guys to support me. We work very hard to meet your needs and are doing our best to keep the solvent traps that can be converted into suppressors (with proper tax stamp) affordable. Here is what we have on the books;

11/19/2014 4:52:32 AM EDT
[Last Edit: SDTA][Edited] [#11]
-Thinner thread protectors in aluminum and carbon steel. They will be bored out to lighten them up yet maintain the necessary strength and integrity to be safe. *within two weeks

-Turned down carbon steel tubes to lighten them up. These will be a option. *within two weeks

-New hammered look powder coat in low gloss black , snow camo and desert camo. *within two weeks

-TITANIUM TUBES in 6" and 8". I made some proofs yesterday and they turned out excellent! I made a large order of tubing and they are enroute. A complete 6" with a aluminum SDTA muzzle brake adapter, aluminum end and 6 freeze plugs weighed 13.3 oz. That is amazing! As soon as we get the tubes and the machines clear up these will hit production. * around two weeks call to be put on the list. Half the price of others

-TITANIUM thread protectors and adapters. This doesn't exactly fit my idea of affordable but at $150 a foot plus shipping for the bar stock. I will do the best I can to keep the price of a TI suppressor under $200 plus the tax stamp. I do not have these drawn or proven yet but it is on the top of my list. *2-4 weeks

Please inform us of your needs. If a bunch of enthusiasts need a product we will do what we can to make it happen. I believe we have the best customer service and expedited shipping. I am a Type 7 class 2 SOT. That means I can legally manufacturer, build and test our products. I make what I use. My gear is worked very hard and must be functional at all times. I don't make products that I will not use. I don't get much free time but I will stop back when I can.

Thank you, Darrell

Four things....

Steel Griffin Adapters....

Steel adapters + endcaps that are hollowed out and dont add another inch to the OAL since the 8.375 is already long.

End caps with a threaded center to change between .308 and 5.56 suitable holes.

Some kind of wrench flats on the end caps.... I couldn't get my griffin adapter off to save my life before sending the tube to my machinist.

As for the titanium tubes that is VERY interesting.... Honestly If I could get one that is 7-8" I would cancel the machine work being done to my 8.375" steel tube and get one of those! But my stamp is here and I will be building on the weekend with videos early next week!

My build after turning the tube down should be around 21-23 ounces with 10 baffles.

This

A 1/2x28 or 5/8x24 adapter would work as an end cap with a threaded insert that is bored to the end users bullet size, say .370 for 762 and .290 for 556.  Should be cheapish to do and be similar to a saker think?  that lets you have a 762 suppressor and changing the end for 556 without changing the endcap that holds the guts in and staying inline with you know who.

similar to this but not threaded on the inside

11/19/2014 5:12:52 AM EDT
[#15]
A clarification on what esstac bolded above... It would be the same direct thread on endcap (bored out and lightened) and you sell the 7.62 and 5.56 adapters for it.

-Griffin steel parts are on the list but are on the back

-The steel and aluminum on the next runs will have only 200 thousands sticking out and will be bored out for weight reduction.

-The end cap idea I believe borders on the NFA type item?

-Once we get the live tooling lathe up and going we will be putting in holes for a spanner wrench. I have shot a lot of rounds with the Griffin and SDTA muzzle brake and have used a channel locks on the knurling with a quick twist. The SDTA break loosens faster with the Acme threads. You could try a small swipe of dielectric grease?

Call us about the Titanium 8" tube. I made two 8" yesterday and will sell. We can ship it priority and should be to you by Saturday. I hope this helps.

Thank you Darrell

Yes but once form 1'd you use a thread protector as your end cap and use some type of threaded insert that makes the holes suitable for 7.62 or 5.56

Just as a discussion

The most critical tight tolerance for suppressing is on the first few baffles the round passes through. A end of 23/64 vs 1/4 I believe will do little for reduced decibels.

That would probably be a good idea, you can go back and click the "edit" button on your posts.  If you keep the sales portion out of it you should be good to go.

But being an industry partner isn't a bad idea either, I think you have a good sized market here

WOW... you will definitely be getting a call from me tomorrow For the setup I have planned that would mean it weighs less then a SDN-6...

I'm assuming it will still beable to handle 5.56 SBR's and .308?

I'm getting off now but im sure Esstac has no problem posting  pertinent $$$ info.

I know that is a big change but... if done I don't think I could see a reason to buy any other tube or end caps.

On another item, I know I would be very interested in a baffle forming die.

Similar to your centering die but something I could place a freeze plug on, squeeze in the shop press and then drill a center hole and have a perfectly formed and center drilled baffle.

Not going to fly, but the backstory on this is Preppers Discount was the exclusive distributor for SDTA until the business relationship fell apart, and they had SDTA's designs reproduced by another shop.  I wouldn't give any business to Preppers.  All all the improved designs there would definatly be no potential.  SDTA has better customer service and prices anyways than Preppers.

This is backstory on my part, and the backstory on the availablity of other improved parts for this is I purchased the SDTA C and D tube parts and filled by first form 1 (I tend to jump into things) then I did more research and just realized it wasn't smart to build this way, it would be overweight, and all centerfire cans should be real metal, it would basically be a waste of money for me.  I decided to cancel my form 1s for a refund (which I ended up not doing) and my local dealer had a Liberty Freedom Titantium 308 for $458 I jumped on, and the AAC Tirant 9 $348-200cedit deal.  But I'm not one to give up and I had months of waiting ahead so, messages, facebook, diagrams, phone calls to and from SDTA about my ideas for the hollowed end caps, hollowed adapters, Ti tubes, thining down profile on the steel tube (all of which are smartly going to be done now!) trying to my builds finished.  Darrell/SDTA are good peeps, I probabbly annoyed the crap out of them, they were going to be produced, but 2 weeks came and went, and the shorter C and Tubes and the solid Steel adpaters were what eventually came out of it.  So I hired a machinist the build the parts I wanted so I could finish my builds.  I'm glad to see it shifted the market enough that these changes are comming finally.  Along the way I fiqured out the 20tpi threads and 1.350 where the next huge flaws, because of weight, thickness, and having to fabricate spacers.

I only had to watch 1 video of preppers discount comparing various adapter designs to realize I'm not buying from them.... just offer a good product stand behind the quality and charge a reasonable price.  The sales will come, no need to bash others products as there will always be competition and plus/minus to everyone's designs.

Some Pricing that SDTA layed out....

6" + 8" Titanium tubes should be around $55-70

Titanium end caps will be around $40-50 because of how expensive the bar stock is.

Darrell,

Thanks again for this offer, but someone thought it would be a great idea to call in as me and buy these tubes from you.

To the guy who did that.... You know me and Esstac were trying to make writeups so everyone else could do these easily, but sometimes sometimes certain people's selfishness gets in the way of things....  I guess I will not cancel my machine work on the steel tube and built that instead.  I guess I will just have to do another form 1 for a titanium tube when they come in... thanks random selfish guy on the internet

At those prices I'd be in for one or three as well, with the only potential hangup being the ID of the tube with regards to baffles and spacing materials.

24TPI threading?

Same threading as the maglights... I personally dont see the issue with the current threading... Someone dumped 1000 rounds of 5.56 through one in an hour and got it hot as hell.... I dont see the problem.

Also when SDTA gave the number 6.8oz that was a 9" tube.... The one's he is planning will be 7.6", the end caps will be each add .2" in length making it 8" total.  The 7.6" tube should weight around 5.75oz

Quick estimate on my end (in my build)

2.6oz end cap + 1.6oz griffin adapter.

10 baffles = 6.7oz

Space material 2oz

Total weight = 18.65oz MAX   SDN6 Suppressor 20oz

I should beable to take .5-1oz of material off of the aluminum endcap

Just curious if you discussed this with him, I'm not saying it's an issue.
