Thinking about getting a Tavor sar.... From my understanding, taking the top rail off basically makes it the same thing as the original tar 21 as far as looks go right? How does a Mars sight attach to the top without the rail? |

The best thing to do is go to IWI website download the SAR manual. The Mars sight with the base is attach to on to barrel matting base. The drawing on page 95 is your answer. Now, if you can find the laser or light assembly that mounts in the handguard. That would be cool to have. |
| If you get an ITL MARS sight typically it’s a U.S. surplus one, it’s probably from the one’s the U.S. Marines contracted or a few that were exported here. The PTT switch cable is a little too short and hard wired/potted to the bottom of the optic. The MeproMOR optic fixed that issue. To reach the spot on the handguard for the PTT switch. The (2) rail clamps throw levers and lock nuts on the other side make it a bit too wide to fit down into the polymer chassis without taking them off. It is doable to change the fasteners to lower profile nuts. When you take off the top rail by unscrewing the hex bolts, the interface for the sights “rail grabbers” are present. |
