Hi, semi new to suppressors, but just bought my first factory suppressor new on a 4473 and it's a tac sol integrally suppressed upper for a ruger mk series. The first round pop is worse than any suppressor I've ever used. I'm not that versed, but I've shot an osprey 45, a few cheap 22 cans and some 9mm suppressor on an mp5 platform decades ago. The first round pop is bad, but the subsequent rounds arent that quiet. I actually expected the first round pop to be closer to the actual dry performance of this thing. Im just using CCI standard velocity too. My suppressed 22 cmmg AR is literally just the sound of the bolt moving. It seems the other tac sol mk 1/2/3 and now the new Pac 4 integral suppressors use a very different baffle design. Mine is a screw together cone baffle stack where one cone screws into the next. I think theres 10 baffles and some appear to be titanium while others seem to be stainless. All the cones are identical and none have any relief cuts to disrupt the flow. Baffles in the pics of other MK series TSS and pac4 seem to be K baffles with small relief cuts and theres a stainless sheetmetal sleeve that the baffles sit inside of. The baffles actually seem to be able to slide a short bit, just enough to rattle. Theres a plastic oring on the expansion chamber that I think is meant to limit the rattle, but its not really on there securely and can easily fall out. I unscrewed the baffles just enough to take up some of the space and get rid of the slop, but I havent shot it like that yet. Lastly, it seemed to need some kind of break in which is super weird. The first mag was lots of bolt binding and return to battery problems. The next couple mags were fine. Cleaning it had some metal shavings. Anything I should try? Are expectations too high? Anyone else have one of these? |

Quick update. I put 300ish rounds through today and am very disappointed. CCI SV cycles half the time, but the feed ramp geometry and chamber differences (tighter chamber) compared to the stock ruger barrel actually shaves lead and creates fail to feed. Federal bulk HV is still subsonic and was 100% reliable. Accuracy was harder to test. It seemed great for the first 200, then I had trouble even hitting 35 yard spinners. The rear sight design is dogshit. A very tiny allen screw holds down the rear notch, which also adjusts with a micro small flathead (neither on my multitool). I got home and snugged it back, but then noticed the poor tolerance between the base and the elevation ramp at the pin allows the whole notch to move laterally quite a bit. Borderline airsoft trash. Why they didnt just make a Ruger dovetail makes no sense. The bolt contacts the aluminum chamber face. Only the barrel sleeve is steel. My ruger barrel is obviously steel and has become deformed after zillions of rounds. This will not fair as well. The suppressor baffles probably have about 1/8" of float in the tube. Why!? Suppressor performance: Even wet, this thing is bad. First round pop probably isnt hearing safe, but the subsequent rounds are just okay and dont sound that consistent between shots. No backwash though. I feel like it got a little quieter as it got dirty, but still not what I was expecting. The can needs more volume and less screw together cones. Apparently I cant post pics. |
