TNVC Training completed our final open enrollment Nightfighter 201 for the 2023 spring training season this weekend (14-16 April 2023) at the Disneyworld of the firearms training community, Alliance Police Department Training Facility, Alliance, OH. The class was a healthy mix of active law enforcement and civilians. Students drive the OPTEMPO and we had twelve switched on students that allowed us to meet and exceed all training objectives for this challenging technology course. We ran this class in conjunction with Nightfighter 101, a full house across the Alliance PD facilities.
Joe Weyer is an amazing host and runs a world class training facility. He is a true friend of not only TNVC Training, but a close personal friend as well. Joe and the Alliance PD allow for a training environment that is rarely matched in the training industry, we call the APD range a home field and plan to continue to run training here for a long time.
Weather was well…Alliance weather. Highs in the low 80s, lows in the high 40s, then it rained and snowed a little bit. If you have trained here, you know how the weather gods work at Alliance, if not, pack for all contingencies. The bulk of this class is internal work, so the rain did little to impact training.
We saw a great cross section of department issued and personally purchased night vision equipment. Everything from green screen PVS14s to supergain white phosphor DTNVS. The bulk of the class were Nightfighter 101 graduates, all others came to us from other world class trainers, and we experienced zero “gaps in our swing” as we cranked up the training speed. ZERO weapons malfunctions this class either (live fire or UTM), an indicator that guys are running quality gear and the word is on the street that a well lubed AR is a happy AR. Weapon lubrication is critical to ensuring that your guns run when you need them to.
Nightfighter 201 is an advanced technology and problem-solving class that requires students to arrive “at speed” for weapons manipulation and switchology. Your technology attached either to your helmet or your firearms require switching that is intuitive and trained. As you are deciding which technology to use, you should not be making bold hand changes on your firearm to activate lights and lasers. Additionally, your NVGs will not be harmed by using your white light, there is no need to turn off your goggles or flip them up before activating your white light. Final reminder on white light…single spectrum, full power, constant on for weapon lights.
Additionally, several companies stepped up to offer students swag and door prizes for their attendance. We really appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes.
