TNVC recently completed our first Nightfighter 101 class hosted by the Cascade County Sheriff’s Office and Great Falls Police Department in Great Falls, MT from 3-4 October 2020. This was a sold-out class, and we really enjoyed having that many students. The class was evenly mixed between civilians and law enforcement officers. We did have several drops the week leading up to the class; however this did not affect the running of the class. We were very excited to get into this part of the country, in this time of the year. Both departments were excellent hosts, and based on the success of the class, we plan to be back here next year for both Nightfighter 101 and Armed Professional.  The weather was AMAZING. Highs in the 70s, and lows in the 50s. It does not get better than this. Montana put on a great show for us for sure weather-wise. We did have a sprinkle on night 2, but it would not be a TNVC class if we did not get something...  This was another rental heavy class for us. 6 sets of goggles and associated equipment. This was planned early to support the local law enforcement office's interests in night vision. And TNVC’s policy is that you can use that rental fee towards purchase of similar equipment. So, if you want to go to a class and you do not have the equipment, no worries. We have limited amounts, so if you are interested in doing that for a class, sign up early.  We saw a wide spread of night vision devices in this class. Everything from green PVS14s to white phos DTNVGs. No student complained of being under-equipped, we were able to complete all the drills with little difficulty.  There were surprisingly little difficulties with guns and gear in this class. VERY suppressor heavy too--I think all but one student ran a can. Makes for enjoyable nights of shooting for sure.  Accuracy exceeded expectations for this class. Students shot very well, and it only got better as the class progressed. Switched on students paying attention to their offsets and making good hits make all the difference in accuracy.  This was our last Nightfighter 101 class for 202 and we have one more Armed Professional class too. The full classes are nice to see and a blast to teach. We are working on the 2021 calendar, and you can expect to see more classes in some new locations. Stay tuned! What an awesome time. I came into this class as a complete newbie. I bought my gear earlier this year and only had the opportunity to play with it a few times. This class was exactally what I needed. We got TONS of hands-on time with the gear and I walked away feeling quite confident with it. Shooting with nods definitely shows holes in your game. I learned that I need to work on my weapon manipulation and reloads as it is really hard while wearing nods. I also need to work on my walking and shooting game. I have a difficult tie doing it in the daytime but under nods, it's harder. That is something I just don't get to do but I need to find ways to work on it. Hopefully, TNVC comes back next year. I will gladly go again as it was worth every penny. A+ Job guys. |

The camera man was apparently focused on my Adonis form several times. I loved this class. I haven't shot under NODs since 2014. I EAS'd early 2015. The WP -14 that TNVC let me rent blew the greens out of the water. I used a MCX with a TOR Mini. Used a 3.5x ACOG the first night and a T-1 the second. T-1 was much easier to use, though I really want to investigate passive shooting with a piggybacked RMR on the ACOG. If there's room, I'm going to be all over that. The TOR Mini is "ok." It lacks an illuminator, so I was at a disadvantage when targets were in shadow. TNVC offered me an A3 to use, but I refused. If the boog kicks off after I get my -14s, but before my D2 arrives, I'll at least have the TOR. The adjustment sucks, and the buttons could greatly benefit from a clicky feedback. I accidentally turned it on once while making certain the mount was still tight. It was awesome running it at 12 o'clock, your offset is minimal, and very comparable to an optic's offset. I plan on getting an IR head for my light, or an IR light to go with it. Speaking of, my light was a little bit undergunned compared to others. I was at 325 lumens, most were well above that. Fine for indoors, outdoors, I lacked some throw. Also, I shot my suppressor cover off somehow. Lulz. I actually bought it because my last class was in the summer in Texas, and I had to do something about the mirage. My MCX had one quasi malfunction, it didn't lock back on empty once. Probably ammo related. Speaking of weapons maintenance, always carry and use lube. I carry a bottle in my grip core, and we used it twice on other people's rifles. |
| great class. money well spent for sure. the drills were simple and got there point across. any hole you have in your daytime game is bigger at night plane and simple. I'm a total neophyte to night night vision and I learned alot. this is a must have course for anyone new to NODS. great instruction. can't wait to do armed professional! |
