Team TNVC kicked off our Fall 2024 training season with a sold out Nightfighter 101 in Great Falls Montana. Great Falls is one of our regular home fields and the Great Falls PD and Cascade County Sheriff’s Department continue to provide a world class training environment. I’d like to extend a personal thanks to Heritage Baptist Church for continuing to allow us to use their annex for classroom support. Great Falls is a great place to be. Weather was about perfect, if a little warm. Highs in the high 80s/low 90s and lows in the mid 50s. Illum was at approximately 30%. These conditions make for interesting atmospheric variables when we’re running goggles. Temperature/thermal inversion combined with a lower illumination will really make your goggles work. Student make up for this class was a good mix of LE/armed pros, fellow instructors and average earth people. This group of switched on cats was arguably one of the best student populations I’ve seen. Everyone rocked it during not only the didactic portions of the class, but during live fire and problem solving portions of the class. Fast, accurate and safe…what a great way to kick off the season, thanks gents! We saw mix of visual augmentation systems and weapons in this class. Little to no issues with any of it, a couple ammunition related malfunctions and a single gear failure, but that’s about it. Again, switch on students who make great choices in their kit make a class a breeze and a joy to teach. We did have one student with a SCAR 16 that was about nine feet long, but he managed to rock that musket…training with your chosen gear shows. It wasn’t until the end of the class that we started to hear guns sounding like a bag full of leaves and sticks…here’s the standard PSA, ahem…LUBE YOUR GUNS. Well lubed and maintained guns will song right along throughout the class and limit downtime while we’re messing with figuring out why your gun choked. Great Falls remains a core venue for us and we can’t wait to come back next year. Come on out and see us for your low light and no light training requirements, 2025 course dates are live!
