TNVC recently completed our last Nightfighter 101 class of 2024 at The Clinton House Plantation in Clinton, SC on Nov 9-10. We always have a great time teaching NF101 and enjoy watching students have their “eye opening” moments. A Try Before You Buy event proceeded this class the night before.  The Clinton House Plantation is a superb location for us. The facilities are great, the hosts amazing, and the ranges work well for our class. Lodging is on site and there are a lot of food options nearby. The weather was a challenge at times for us. The first night had pleasant temps and although the range was soggy from the rain earlier in the week there were no issues. However, the second night was a different story. It was significantly cooler and we experienced everything from light drizzle to steady rain all night. The rain, high humidity, and cooler temperatures created some very challenging conditions at times. Glasses and goggles fogged up and lasers fought to cut through the thick air. We saw a wide spread of night vision devices and lasers in this class. No student complained of being under-equipped, we were able to complete all the drills with little difficulty. While the technology performed well, we did see some problematic carbines and ammunition. Students coming to class spend a lot of resources (time, money, gear, days off, etc.) to come to a class. Running gear that is not necessarily proven can be a detriment to your training experience. We cannot stress enough the importance of making sure that the equipment (rifles, pistols, and ammunition for both) that you plan on using for the class all work well together. Yes, we encourage and want students to experiment with their gear at a NF101 course, however, that should be reserved for the technological gear associated with the course. Bringing a new carbine or pistol, or an unproven one, could potentially not work at the course, resulting in pulling students off the line and causing them to miss training. Night Fighter 101 is the first step into becoming someone who is “confident, competent, and capable” in the use of night vision technology and leads directly into our Night Fighter 201, where we continue to expand on the principles learned in Night Fighter 101. Now that the students understand the skills, Night Fighter 201 allows the students to practice the application of those skills. Additionally, several companies generously stepped up to offer students swag and such for their attendance. We really appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes. I was one of the students at this Nightfighter 101, wanted to share that the class and instructors were outstanding, lots of field experience but they were not just relying on their resume, they were actually making sure we all learned stuff which sometimes is not the case in other firearms courses where they make you do drills without really focusing on doing them correctly (perfect practice makes perfect…). Already looking at upcoming dates for Nightfighter 201 and for taking 101 again, first time training with TNVC and it was worth the money and time! Dan |

Wanting to get into NV but with zero experience, I signed up for the try before you buy and the NF101. I would highly recommend attending the TBYB (plus you get the cost of class applied to your purchase!) because it will really show you the differences between various binos and dispel some myths that you might have. As a plus, I finally got to look through a VooDoo-S which was amazing. The NF101 was fantastic at getting you acclimated to weapon handling/shooting under NODS. I did the full rental and wound up with BNVD-1531 binos and the spectacular B.E. Meyers MAWL. The course was worth every penny and I would highly recommend it. The instructors were all top tier and gave you insight into what works and what doesn’t in the real world. I am really looking forward to attending the NF201 class next year. |
