TNVC recently completed another Nightfighter 101 class at the Pro Gun Club in Boulder City, NV. This was an all civilian class—a very rare occurrence. Also an enjoyable one—we are always excited to see “average earth people” out there with great gear getting good, tough training in. We are proud of these students for taking their personal development to the next level. We cannot say enough good stuff about the staff at the Pro Gun Club. They are eager to help and have a great facility that works very well for our course. They are amazing hosts and go out of their way to help with all aspects of getting the class together. This is another staple location for us, and we will continue to train here for the foreseeable future.  We could not have asked for better weather. Highs in the 70s, lows in the 50s. We always get good illumination from the ambient light emitted by Sin City. We saw a wide spread of night vision devices and student experience in class. I can say that again this was one of the more novice classes we have taught—which really shows the value of Nightfighter 101. We did not experience any night vision gear related issues in the class.  Weapons reliability was above average for this class. We had a single malfunction in the course.  We run a pretty aggressive tempo to our classes for working between the two relays. A lot of this has to do with working on a semi-reverse schedule, and we have a lot of training objectives we want to cover. Jamming mags prior to class, and having readily available food and drinks helps make your breaks more enjoyable, relaxing, and keeps our students alert and receptive to instruction. Small things like that can help you make the most of your breaks.  The packing list is a real thing—it provides the basic amount of gear that the class needs for students to get the most out of the course. It does not have to be the latest and greatest gear; we will help you get the most out of what you bring. But not having gear on the packing list can affect your ability to complete all the training objectives for the course and we want to you to get the most out of the class. Additionally, several companies stepped up to offer students swag and door prizes for their attendance. We really appreciate their generosity and are proud to have them associated with our classes. Great class and the instructors were awesome. We didn't have any LEOs in the class and a great cross section of students from Farmers to Professionals; diverse group of people wanting to learn more about this equipment. Safe class, no safety violations and I didn't see any weapons malfunctions on my relays. If was fun seeing all of the gear everyone else was running, and seeing what worked and didn't work. I went the first day with my rifle set up, and the instructors saw me struggling and suggested help. The next day I showed up with a whole different configuration, changes some lights around, added a white light to my rifle and even changed up my sling from 1 point to a 2 point. Made a few new friends and hope to take this class again to refine what I learned, and I need to hit the gym, because that rifle does get heavier by the end of the night!!! |
