I got both. Looks like the Spikes set has a couple thick ones. Which I’ll need because this has to go a full rotation to hand tight again to 11 o’clock. Every shim I’ve got won’t be enough and it’s 15 or 16 thin ones. Unless one .002” shim is enough. But I couldn’t find an answer on that. |

But I couldn’t find an answer on that. has the receiver face been trued/lapped? that might clean it up enough for you to only need minimal shims. ive had the same situation as i think you are describing and truing the face got everything to work out without stacking a bunch of shims. |
| The issue is it times right at 55#’s with no shims. So to shim it as the manual says I’ve got to space it off one full turn. Or, if it’s not in recommended I might be able to put one super slim shim in it and go up to (guessing) about 70#’s I guess truing the face would create the clearance for a more substantial shim and only one. Which I’ve thought of, but I’m on a deadline. I want to zero it before 20 September for the GA firing line Hike and Shoot. |

IIRC i was also in the 70's torque range with the thinnest shim and haven't had any issues. |

Like 30 something? i've done one installation where my torque was 45lb, it was a very accurate upper. i used vibratite on the threads because i was worried, but hind sight being what it is i probably didn't need to. (that was me and for obvious reasons i'm not instructing you to do anything other than whats in the KAC provided installation instructions.)

| Before I found the manual on the internets I put another one together that’s about the same build sheet. (I’m calling them Laverne and Shirley. ) it torqued out under 50#’s. I’m wondering if it’s more about rotation under stress than anything? I mean TDP says 30#’s I guess I’ll know pretty soon cause they both are goin to the Hike and Shoot 20 September. |
