I decided to pick up one of SPAS-12 clones. Made in Turkey. Looks amazing. Digging the two tone look. First time shooting it ran perfect on pump mode. Semi-auto mode functioned properly once you got it loaded. Unfortunately sometimes it would double feed on the initial loading. Worked better when I tossed a round into the chamber and hit the bolt release and then loaded the rest in the mag tube. Ran birdshot and buckshot just fine. Mag tube holds 5 rounds. Has a couple of things limiting the capacity. You take apart the mag tube extension. Removed the plug using a flat head screwdriver. Then used a 6-1 screwdriver hex part to remove this rod inside the mag extension. The spring looks too short though. So I ordered a couple extended springs. Was able to install a Wolff spring without cutting it. Not easy to get it in there though. May have to trim it. The tube now holds 8 rounds so that's cool. Playing around with the folding stock I realized when it's folded you can't use the hook as a carry handle because the stock will unfold accidentally. On the original there's a latch locking into the rear sight and it's a solid carry handle. On the clone it relies solely on the stock button which isn't enough. Update: Just realized it is unfolding so easy now because the rear pin loosened itself. I tightened it up and now it's not unfolding as easily. Still don't trust it though. May try and make my own latch for the rear sight at some point. The rear sight is about 5.5mm in diameter. Ordered a couple spring pin latches off Amazon. I'll see if I can install one onto the folding stock properly. Overall it looks amazing and gets lots of compliments at the range. Going to try it again tomorrow with the new larger mag capacity and see how it runs in semi. I also tore it down and cleaned and lubed it well.  |

Thanks for sharing your experience, looking forward to hearing how the mag tube modification works out… Had two WAY back in the day, one with the original lever style safety and another with the traditional cross bolt/push button. Sold them both for more than I paid for them but not exactly what they’re going for today! Is it still a two-handed loading process where you have to push a button to release the lifter (or whatever it’s called…) to load the tube? That was a major drawback to the original design and I’m curious if that’s been addressed. Also curious to see how the semi-auto function works for y’all with the mag tube/spring mods. Some break-in might be expected and it might not work with reduced recoil or similarly lower FPS rounds…was there any indication in the manual, etc. that provided guidance on that? Thanks in advance for your response. |

Does your stock have kind of a wonky angle when unfolded? It could just be me, but the more I look at pictures of these online it appears as if the stock doesn't fully fold down and it latches with it slightly up at like a 5 or 10 degree angle. Also are the stock and heat shield steel or aluminum? |
Yeah in the manual it said it's normal to have a shell slip out of the tube and go under the bolt sometimes. But I don't think that's normal...  It's definitely much easier to operate than the original. The loading gate is free moving. No extra button to push there. It's similar to a regular shotgun. Cross bolt safety behind the trigger guard. The bolt release on the right side of the gun instead of the left side. |

Yeah the stock angle definitely looks off in pics. Shooting it I didn't notice it. Honestly surprised the recoil didn't hurt my shoulder with buckshot. Maybe because it's a heavy gun. But still lighter than the original. Hard to say. I'll have to try the magnet test. Ok the heat shield and stock and barrel are steel. The receiver and mag extension tube are aluminum.  |

I bought my 1st Turkish Semi-Auto 12 gauge back in 2003ish. What piece of shit. It too would double feed if the chamber was charged from the magazine tube. I swore off all Turkish guns after that experience. I've finally came back to them a few years ago with the MKE AP5 MP5 Clone and some of their handguns. |

Yeah I don't know if this will be a limited run or not, so I grabbed one just in case. It probably depends on how well it sells. Playing around with different springs and followers today. I think a 30" spring is about right. Original is 26" long. The aluminum follower it came with was definitely a problem. Works fine for 5 rounds, but gets hung up past that. I put a Wilson Combat 870 follower in there and now it's smoothly feeding 8 rounds manually by hand. I also beveled the mag tube and extension for smooth feeding. To be clear it was the follower getting stuck transitioning from the extension tube to the mag tube. |

Does it use a common sized interface for the stock, like a Mossberg or 870 pattern, or is it proprietary? I know the weird Black Aces semi auto SBS I have uses a Mossberg pattern stock even though you have to modify them a bit to fit. It would be interesting as that would open up a lot of options, plus possibly allow use of the folding stock on other shotguns. |

I just saw someone listing one of these for sale on Gunbroker claiming that these guns are already undergoing a version 2.0 revision at the factory. They are claiming the revised guns will fix the folding stock angle, darken the color of the heat shield and stock, and add a latching mechanism for the rear sight / folding stock. So this is my Spock eyebrow raising. |

My importer already let me know that the new stocks will be coming in as a part of that as an upgrade for existing owners and will likely be around $100.00 USD for the new style folder. ETA: Just checked gunbroker and blitzkrieg is who I got my original gun through. |

Ok so I took it shooting again. This time with slugs!! In pump action the recoil was harsh!! Had to pick my face off the metal stock because it was digging into my cheek. In semi-auto the recoil was far more manageable. In pump action it was completely reliable. In semi-auto it was jamming a lot more often compared to birdshot and buckshot. After shooting I noticed the detent on the hook was missing!! It must have fell off due to the harsh recoil from the slugs!! So no one handed shooting until I fix it, ha E-mailed Blitz Kraig and they answered me back quickly!! They are sending me a new stock detent to fix the hook. And a new trigger group to fix the semi-auto function. Said I need to bend the loading ramp to time it correctly. Said it might break, so that's why they are sending me a spare just in case. They also did in fact say a new stock upgrade is coming soon. I'll get a discount rate being a Gen 1 owner. I'll keep you all posted. Happy with their customer service so far. That's one thing the originals don't have, ha |

Evidently they are coming out with a Gen-2 to address some of the issues with the SPAS clones. I am curious - were there any SBS versions of the SPAS-12? Yeah like in that movie Snatch they used a chopped SPAS-12. Wouldn't be too difficult to do. I feel a lot less bad about chopping up a clone. I made a ghetto latch to lock into the rear sight. Picked up a spring loaded 6mm latch from Amazon and cut a couple small pieces of metal to get the right height. May not look great, but it works. Definitely a must for using the hook as a carry handle.  |

Okay - Found a Pic on Firearms Movie Database of an SBS version: As an SBS it would appear much easier to handle than the very long and seemingly unbalanced long barreled version. I now say "This is gun I want" - As said by Rock Hudson as "young bull" in the original "Winchester 73" that starred Jimmy Stewart I'm an old boomer but if I knew anything about how to make a meme I would do that scene for all the guns I want to buy

Current owners- What is the current muzzle device and thread arrangement? I'm interested to make an SBS. Moving the front sight back is relatively easy - BUT the muzzle will be a naked barrel! What is the current muzzle device affixed to? is it the barrel that is actually flanged and threaded or is it a separate flange? that is mated to the front end? hoping its the later so it can be moved back! Also does it come with any chokes? |

They started popping up yesterday as back in stock. First i place i saw was classic firearms at 1300 bucks. I got there within 30min of the email, i had it added to my cart, but as soon as i clicked "check out", it showed out of stock. Later in the day i got an in-stock notification from mokas, their site confirming they are the new gen 2 model at $999. $300 saved right off of the line! Classic also posted a video of the gen1 with their email, showing it sucking. Here's hoping this thing is actually fun.

| I had heard that the threads were not compatible with real SPAS muzzle devices like chokes, and now I see why. This barrel lacks the flange that real SPAS barrels have, and it also appears to lack the rubber o ring gasket as well (then again it has nothing for that gasket to compress against). |
Well took her shooting again today. This time I decided to run a full length uncut Wolff mag spring, 40" long. Scattergun Technology bright green follower. Put a couple boxes of Federal birdshot low brass through her on semi-auto. She ran like a champ today!! Didn't have any issues. I had also tightened all the screws with loctite yesterday. And I did try to bend the shell holder outwards a little bit. So whatever I did, it worked!! I think it did need the extra spring pressure for the mag tube. Follower helped to keep it from getting hung up. The original follower would get stuck sometimes in the tube.  |

With mine, i also ordered the wolff spring for the mag tube. Then when looking around last night, i see a listing for a new extension and spring for the sulun spass 12 that brings it to the full 7 + 1 capacity. Seems like it should only need the spring. I also ordered a jurassic park tshirt that i plan on putting on. If the weather allows for it, I'm also driving the wrangler that's currently doors and top nekid...

Who got their gen 2 already? I picked mine up today, I removed the threaded spacer piece in the extension and added the long rem 860 spring. Just cycling some rounds through it manually, I had some issues with extraction. I ended up smoothing off the edge on the barrel where the extractor goes, that helped a ton. Some more fiddling with it is needed, but it's pretty nifty. Holds 8 rounds no problem. Does it feel like a $1,000 shotgun? nah. but it's still fun. ETA: mine still says SPASS 12, but I have no doubt that it's a gen 2 |

The thread kits are out there - just need to check the diameter of the barrel and turn it if its not close. If I could find an adjustable choke, I'd use one and solder it on- not too easy to find old polychokes these days. |
