Starting at 10PM my time (midnight DC time) I started filling out an e-form 1 and successfully completed it with a $0 tax paid at 10:29.   That was the smoothest Form 1 I have ever done; normally the system has issues at least once, causing me to lose all progress.  I entered a model number, even though it isn't strictly required for a Form 1 silencer, and the system told me that it would likely make my form go into research.  I guess we will see if that slows me down compared to others, as I historically have had very quick e-file approvals in the last year or so.

I'm still waiting.

Submitted form 1 this morning. High temp pla just arrived as well. Waiting to hit print.

Care to share method of attachment to threaded barrel? My plan is to use a 1/2x28 to 5/8 thread adapter as a large heatset insert.

I basically filled it out like any other form, but under description I put boring technical information to try to make it sound like I know what I am doing.

"3D PRINTED CF IMPREGNATED POLYPTHALAMIDE SILENCER WITH STAINLESS STEEL
SERIAL NUMBER PLAQUE"

Under maker code you put FMI, and I created a serial number and model name (model is not required).  Put your caliber and overall length in the appropriate fields

Then I uploaded pictures of a Siraya Tech PPA-CF filament spool and my laser engraved Amazon dog tag.

It is my 11th e-Form 1; I don't know if that helps?

I got mine approved this morning with similar entry. In the description on the form I said I will make it using additive polymer manufacturing and in the supporting upload I included a JPEG with stock images of my printer, a spool of filament and a pic of the metal thread adaptor, and some wording saying the metal part will have the serial number engraved and it will be epoxy embedded into the polymer print part.  All very general and vague.

The design I just printed is a heavily modified FTN.4 that I incorporated a ⅝-24 thread protector file into for the attachment, and my Qidi Plus 4 prints the threads so well that I don't even have to chase them with a tap.  I screw a ½-28 to ⅝-24 thread adapter into it to make the threads more durable.    I left the body about ½" thick, solid material about 1-½" in from the end so that I can drill and stainless pop rivet the laser engraved dog tag to it.  I printed a jig to bend the dog tag in my vise, though the spring back made it larger diameter than needed and I had to redesign an undersized bending jig.

I'm following the instructions on this one.

Thanks! I made a few original designs I plan on testing (I have no idea what Im doing, but being an ME and having some understanding of fluids might help ).

I didn't think about just embedding a threaded part into cad file (modeling threads in creo is annoying). Ill make an assembly and export step for that. I have a Qidi q1 pro that has printed some threaded parts so I expect they will come out pretty good.

I literally posted a picture I made in PowerPoint of a 3d printer and a cartoon supressor, we will see if it gets approved. Never done a form 1 so unsure how detailed I needed to be lol.

I took my printed can shooting yesterday and I am beyond happy.  It sounds great, and even with a lot of rounds down range it didn't get very hot.

I modified the FTN.5 PCC design with a 5/8" printed thread and made a recess to press fit a laser engraved stainless steel washer into, which will also be sandwiched in by the 5/8-24 to 1/2-28 thread adapter.    Now to get my ComMarker B4 30W laser set up and do a few test engravings.  I picked up 60 of the washers from Amazon for under $20, so I am going to end up with more cans than I know what to do with 😂

Second option, which will more securely lock the serial number plate in place.

I am thinking that M/S paint would be a great way to get my next one denied....LOL

My FTN.5 PCC that I developed this serial embedment for was approved on Friday; I took it up and compared it to my modified FTN.4 kneelsun and the new FTN.5 PCC blows it out of the water.  Lighter, quieter and shorter.  It sounded as good as a commercial can on my 6.5" Dissent 9mm.
