Greetings !! I just picked up a new Uberti 1847 yesterday, along with some Slixshot nipples. This thing is so much nicer than my Pietta Dance Bros revolver! The fit, finish, and feel are just *chefs kiss*... everything just seems so much tighter and smoother. The bluing seems deeper, the case hardening is prettier, the wood fits the frame better, and it doesn't have all the unnecessary engraving on the sides of the barrel. I'm very pleased with my second C&B revolver. For the most part.... However, it may be a little too tight. The wedge came out easily, but I can't get the barrel off the arbor to save my life. I tried the loading lever on the cylinder to leverage it off - wouldn't budge. I put a thick piece of leather between the lever and the cylinder and gave the lever a couple good taps with a mallet hoping to jar it loose... still nothing. Using thin leather between the cylinder barrel yoke (area between barrel and loading lever?) I tried to use a thick screw driver to pry them apart... yet again, no movement whatsoever. I'm glad it's good and tight, but dayum... Are there any other tips or tricks to get this sumbich apart? I don't want to get too crazy and tear up something, but I'm gonna have to get this apart eventually. My dance has always come apart with minimal effort, even after being so fouled the cylinder would barely rotate. I say this jokingly and with no intention of trying it, but I thought about firing a round with the wedge out, ala carbon locked suppressor removal, and yeet the thing across the yard  Thanks for any insights and recommendations !!! |

Dumb question, but is the hammer down (not cocked) during your attempts? I don't think it would matter but maybe if the cylinder isn't fixed the barrel might come off easier. I'd probably smack it with a non marring hammer trying to jar the barrel forward. Once you get it apart, look for any burrs you can dress that might be causing it to stick. |

Got it off! Wrapped barrel in leather in a vice - oak dowel on face of cylinder alternating sides and about 6 good hacks with a hammer popped it off! Didn't notice any burrs right off. But i will investigate further and hopefully get this thing right. Even with this lil hiccup, it is already heads above my Dance Bros. Gonna have to get another eventually |
I just picked it up at the post office yesterday. Brand spanking new, never fired, only disassembled once LOL
