I'm considering buying one of the current production 24" barrels with bipod. Probably wouldn't get used a great deal, but I would like to have one. So, my two questions: 1) What kind of POI shift and you seeing with yours (compared to your standard barrel zero), and how has accuracy been? 2) Anyone pulled the break and running a suppressor on theirs? Appreciate your experience, and yeah, you might call that three questions...

Different barrels of the same length can have some shift, it varies. Usually not enough to matter for a battle zero with FMJ, but you should verify that for every barrel. Different lengths will throw you off a lot. Sometimes it’s pretty good, just the elevation differential due to the change in velocity. Sometimes it’s waaaay off. You need to take all your barrels out and shoot them to see the change, and double check that it’s consistent. You can draw up a dope card and chuck it in the stock, and mark your optic turrets, too. Suppressing the AUG isn’t great, you get a lot of piston pop, you get port pop right next to your ear, it throws gas right beside your face, and it’s a pretty overgassed gun to begin with. If you’ve got a legacy baffle can, then you’ll probably want to get the KNS gas regulator, it’s much more nuanced than the Steyr suppressor gas plug. If you’ve got a flow can, then it doesn’t much matter, it’ll work fine with the factory plug. |
Thanks for your thoughts! I run mine with a Rugged Micro 30, and it's not the best host, but sure is better than shooting without suppression. I like to think that the overbore suppressor helps a bit. I would like to get one of the suppressor gas plugs, just haven't yet. Wasn't aware of the KNS, thank you for the tip.
