I really got to hand it to Springfield on keeping the mag prices reasonable even with the demand. They’re not AR15 level of cheap but after so many years of Sig and FN and others acting like mags are a lucrative profit center, it’s refreshing. Where are my 40s though?!

Anyone know where I can find one of these in stock at a reputable vendor, w/ or w/o the brace? I'd rather not pay full MSRP but at this point I'll do what I have to. I qualify for First Line as well if it helps. ETA: Nevermind. Found one w/ @DKFirearms (vendor here) and some mags for less than MSRP. ETA2: What tri-lug is everyone putting on their barrels? Think I'd prefer that for my Rugged Obsidian 9 over direct thread. DT always seem to come loose on me. |

According to Ian's video on it, the biggest contract for the Kuna right now is for the .40 version for the Brazilian police of some sort. I agree, though, I don't think it would see many sales in the State's. |

I don’t know what it took to make it a 9mm but even if they just sold the 40 parts separately that might be a good solution. I actually wouldn’t mind having a 40 PCC. Subsonic 180’s in plinking and bonded flavors could be handy. |

I missed the initial stock release but just ordered one. I like that it does not need the pic rail. Plus makes it all OEM, which is worth it to me. At least I did not need to order from overseas like my PMXs stock.  Registered another SA firearm to get the 15% off coupon. |

After this thread, plus numerous PCC reviews, I settled on a Kuna for my first nice PCC (I don't count the Ruger PC Carbine; it's good but it's a full size rifle). Naturally, I didn't realize they were so popular and hard to find as I tried to find a place to order one online and couldn't. They are selling for more than MSRP on Gunbroker. Walked into my local farm store and they had just received a shipment of three with the brace yesterday and had one left. Didn't want the SI brace because this one is going straight to Form 1, but decided it was available and would snag it. I hate braces, but this one isn't terrible at all. After working with it a bit, I'm going to keep it for interstate travel purposes. Used my coupon to order 10 mags and the OEM Kuna stock. Since I don't have any other PCCs, other than the Ruger that runs Glock mags, I don't mind stacking cheap proprietary mags deep. Edited to add: Mine is a 26k serial number. Came with the "updated" magazines. Taking the mags apart, was pretty surprised cracking would even be a thing on these. Pretty chunky mags for a double stack 9mm. What are you all using for Over All Length with the Kuna Stock for the form 1? I see here : https://www.springfield-armory.com/kuna-9mm-pistol-international/ Under Spec : 591 3mm (Extended) Is that a good number to use? |

I keep mine in a VertX Ready Man w/ a tri-lug mounted can to quickly attach as well as a small chest rig w/ 4 mags. Cons(?) Mags are proprietary. However, they are affordable ($20-25/ea. usually) and I haven't had any problems w/ mine (they have post revision followers). Factory BUIS are...ok. You have to have a low mounted RDS to co-witness. If you use an AR height mount, they're unusable. Trigger is sort of creepy. Not amazing, but usable for sure. You can upgrade it if that's an issue for you later. I sold off my P320 Raider to fund mine and I'm very glad I did. |

I'll share my thoughts on the Kuna. Bottom line up front; if you want a PCC with modern controls and excellent build quality the Kuna nails it. It's my new favorite by far. My 9 year old loves shooting it and handles it better than any other rifle he's shot. It literally eats anything I've ran through it. Recoil is more than MP5, but it's still very soft shooting. Much softer than any direct blowback will ever be. My larger and heavier Ruger PC Carbine has more recoil. Magazines appear to be high quality with current iteration (early ones had some issues). I've dropped them loaded, no cracks. They do spit rounds, but thats the case with just about any double feed mag. The hand wringing over proprietary magazines is unwarranted. You can find them for $20 to $25 each. No one seems to call out SIG or B&T for their proprietary plastic mags that run $45 to $50 each. Quite frankly it's a travesty the APC magazines cost what they do and are so fragile they need a rubber bumper to prevent cracking when dropped. The con to the magazines is their physical size. I think this is a result of the Kuna being a modular platform with the same receiver and lower for all caliber variants. For a 9mm magazine, they are thick. They will fit some crazy long 9mm loads though. This leads me to speculate this platform would accommodate 10mm and .45 if HS Produkt chose to make them. Build quality on the Kuna is flawless. The plastics feel and look high quality. Machining is excellent inside and out. The bolt and roller setup is more refined than the Stribog. The roller does not fall out when you field strip it. There's a spring putting forward tension on the locking piece. You can easily disassemble it by hand if you're really OCD about cleaning. The charging handle has a retainer built in so it doesn't flop around when the bolt is locked back. Outside of the pistol grip the entire firearm can be disassembled with a Glock armorers tool. Regarding the pistol grip, the factory one feels really good and I won't be replacing it. The attachment method is pretty slick. There's a square steel nut captured in the lower for the pistol grip screw. You're not stripping this one out or cross threading it unless you really crank on it. The trigger is really good. It's better than a stock MP5 or GI AR15 trigger. There is some creep on take up, but the release is smooth. We've all been spoiled by high quality AR15 triggers, but for the work this weapon is made for the trigger is good. The weight is about 5.5lbs but it doesn't feel that heavy to me. It's like a really decent Glock factory trigger. The complaints about the safeties being stiff are warranted. However, all of the YouTubers got the reason why entirely wrong. They blame it on friction from plastic on plastic; the Kuna safety is steel with plastic levers dovetailed into it. There is no polymer in the fire control group on the Kuna. The real issue with the safety is a combination of the stiff spring, the rough finish on the detent, and the grease they use on assembly. Swapping the safety spring out for an HBI reduced power spring and cleaning all the trash out of the detent really makes the safeties feel nice. The shape of the levers isn't conducive to using the thumb to turn the safety back on, but index finger sweep works well for this. Unlike the Scorpion, the ambi safety on the Kuna is comfortable. The left side mag release is a little stiff. The right side mag release is fine. The bolt catch is fantastic. I love it. Super easy to hit with either hand. Now, I do wish Springfield would've brought us the variant they sell in Brazil without irons. Having that little extra rail space would be nice. An email to them and they quickly sent the missing mag out. One accessory you should absolutely get for your Kuna is the Matata Loader. Fantastic quality magazine loader and a steal for $25. If you can't tell, I don't like loading magazines. The Kuna mags have a really stiff spring and once you get about 20 rounds in them they are hard to load. The Matata makes it easy. |

They also offer several stock and brace upgrades that replace the rear 1913 plate. |

One of the YouTubers broke the plastic backplate dropping it on concrete. It broke a piece of the picatinny rail off where the stock clamped on. If I were running a brace or a picatinny stock, I'd get the HBI part. HBI makes a quite a few things for these. I like their selector spring and short stroke buffer setup. The buffer setup is worth it. Nexus makes a lower that takes AR parts and Scorpion mags. A3 Industries makes stocks among other things. I'm sure there's more but for a gun that's been out for less than year there's already a lot out for it. |

It is a pain to close, but a bigger pain to open. I bought mine separately as I found the pistol version at a local shop. Getting removed as soon as the SBR paper work comes in. |

Local dealer has one with the brace. Good guy, but a little high on price. Debating whether I want to get it since come July 1st, there's a 99.9% chance future purchases of a Kuna will be illegal in Va. I have 2 MP5 clones and an MPX, so not sure I see a place for it, but it is pretty cool looking. |
| I really didn’t have a problem with the SI brace when I got mine. Actually thought it was one of the better braces currently out there, and have been reusing it on other guns until I get the Form 1s back. SI makes a dual fold version that is much easier if you want to stick with a brace. |
