I bought some Sordins with comms a few years ago. I finally got around to trying the comms yesterday at a comms class I was taking. I could not trasmit and when recieveing there was a very loud squeltching noise. I assumed this was because I was trying an Amazon U-94 knock off. The instructor has the new generation disco 32 with a plug that fit a uv-5r and I had the same results. Is it worth it to look for old gen disco32 and see if it works? I ear pro works great on these, just trying to get the comms working. Or just sell them and put the $ towards Peltors? Is it worth it to look at the surplus Liberator's with Comms that seem to be pretty cheap online? I think they are made by the same company that makes Sordins. I tested the continuity in the plug per this diagram on Amazon. I tested the EARPH+ and the EARPH - and did not get a circuit beep on multimeter. Does that mean I have a military plug or a civilian plug? https://a.co/d/0e3aXBzl This item says it works with MSA. Might be worth trying it to see if it works but I do not think it's amplified. |

It should be wired for the NATO/MIL standard. Also, it has a dynamic mic, so if you use it with a commercial radio like a Baofeng, you need a PTT with an amplifier circuit. Your cheap knockoff PTT probably was wired to the Airsoft standard, and lacks the amp. The Disco32 one you tried may have been an older one that didn't have the amp, they used to make both versions. Their new models have circuitry inside that works with both. That Earmor PTT is wired right, but won't have the amp circuit because their headsets come with electret type mics. |

And di it have the same problem receiving in the headset as your knockoff PTT had? |

Both PTT's would make the transmit light turn on (red). It eventually went away. When recieving, it would get the super squelchy noise in them. I wonder if it's worth it to send them to SRS tactical and have them check them over? I see they do a diagnostic for $25. The guy I bought them from a few years ago said he has just sent them in before he told them. I bought them here but don't remember who it was. |
| So I swapped some radios around and went with 2 analog uv5r’s. Now I can hear other talking but when I go to use my PTT, I get static in my ear and static is all that transmits to the other radio. This was using the non amplified ptt from amazon. Is this something that would change with an amplified ptt? |
