Background: I’m a small, lgs handling an average of 2100 dispositions a year, doing it for 9 years as the shop owner (been at the shop for 15 years) I just received my SOT for the first time. I’m intimately familiar with the NFA process as a individual, I’ve bought practically everything in practically every possible circumstance. However I know jack shit about “our” side. I knew I’d need a eforms account for the shop, I was able to figure that out and I’m pretty sure it’s up and running. Not sure how I feel about Silencer Central… The Shop I used for NFA purchases and transfers had a eft scanner and took passport photos. As a consumer I much preferred that as opposed to invoking a 3rd party or dicking around with mailing anything. I think I want to do it in house. What’s away for me to do that without breaking the bank? I’m absolutely not tec savvy if that matters. At this point I honestly don’t know what volume I’ll do. I honestly have no idea but I figured what the hell I’ll try it… |

I get emails all the time about Cerberus Live Scan. Cerberus is a good option for an in-store operation. We do our own thing with NFA Tools, Fastbound (which every dealer should use) and a fingerprinting system from i3. I like NFA Tools because the we can do everything online except take prints. We also utilize remote desktop software so customers can certify their forms from the comfort of their couch.  One tip: do not ask for the customer's eforms passwords or PINs, ever.Pass on the Silencer Shop kiosk but do sign up as a dealer. |

| I would go in house as well. I use a i3 digid scanner and eft software and upload everything to eforms for the customer. To me it is easier than going with a 3rd party system, and i own all my equipment. We do concealed weapons classes as well, so i do fingerprint cards for class attendees with the software as well. And yes never ask the customer for the eForms account info! |

Thanks everyone. I went with Cerberus, I’m super happy. I had reached out to probably 80% of the people that market this stuff and to be honest, most have yet to get back to me. The evening I sent a email to Cerberus my phone rang and it was Dan Peterson. I was just checking for info and after talking to him I knew to “just do it” and I ordered it from him over the phone. I’m possibly the worst person on the planet with computers. I’m still not comfortable with it but that will come. Dan was more than accommodating helping me get it set up so hats off to him for helping me out. I’m up and running. Submitted a F4 on Thursday and one on Friday and they both were approved Tuesday morning. Did an assist on a F1 on Tuesday and the fellow got his approval today. Man was I ever worried but I’m 3 for 3. My only real counter space is my handgun cases so I rearranged things enough to set a tool chest beside the safe. Probably won’t be permanent but it gets me up and running and I can repurpose the chest. Thanks again. Attached File |
