Has anyone done a comparison of the two? I typically load sierra 77gr over A2520 with excellent results. Curious to know if the hive has any comparative data? |

My non back-to- back shooting of both seems to indicate that most of my rifles seem to prefer the SMK by a very slight margin. I need to do more through testing but expect it will be really close. The Barnes used to be a lot cheaper, I don't know if that is still the case. I wouldnt pass up a sale on either. I shot the Barnes to 1k yd out of my DMR and it performed very well, AB custom curve was bang on all the way. |
| I've got 4k of the match burners. Bone Frog loads them in some ammo and those consistently shoot better than what I've been able to get. Not sure what powder they are using. I have tried MP518 from American Reloading (similar to Staball Match) and actual Staball Match. I settled on a load of 25.6gr of MP 518 and it seems to be an inch or so most days from my SPR. I loaded some SMK's over that expecting to see a tighter group but it was about the same. |
