Along with everyone else in the freer states, I was very heartened by the legal win, and I thought it might be nice to get a 'can for my SBR. I've never used one in my life, know nothing about them, but I thought for the HD rifle, might be a good idea for what hearing I still have left. I am also a poor, so buying a $1000 to $2000 can is off the table. Silencer Shop has a 'can made for SBRs called Stacy's Mom K. Never bought anything named after a rock and roll song before, either, but that's beside the point. Is this a decent 'can with good noise reduction? It's just over $500, so it fits my ultra poor PSA SBR. Note, this is a registered one I did back in January. But it's still less than $800 total in to it. | I've got a Stacy Mom K. Not a lot of rounds through it. Function wise no complaints. I have run it on 10.5", 16", and 20" 5.56. I've only run it so far with the full vented end cap and again no complaints, but I always wear ear protection so I don't have input as to it's rating to other suppressors except for a YHM T2,( I think). I thought the Stacy Mom K was a small bit quieter, and definitely less gas to the face although I didn't run either one hard. If I get another 5.56 suppressor I might consider a Rhino K, but I also wouldn't hesitate to get another SMK, for the money I think it is hard to beat. |

I run a SM-K on a 16” mid-length lightweight. I love it. I wish i’d grabbed two. I have other cans some more expensive and some cheaper than SM-K. It lives on that rifle so i just direct threaded it. I only use the end cap that came with it. Have not experimented with the other more open caps. |

If you mean the Rhino X, I’ve been really impressed. |

I have the Stacy's Mom K. Running it side by side, and using the fully sealed end cap, it sounds pretty much indistinguishable from the OCL Polo K. Add the fully vented end cap and there's a noticeable difference. Don't know if it's actually quieter, or if it's just the tone, but it's really nice. And just for another data/opinion point, when I ran my Polo K back to back against my Rhodie 6, there is a noticeable difference there. But the Rhodie 6 isnt like absolutely mind blowing better. Though I will say the Rhodie 6 is truly hearing tolerable even on a Mk18, whereas both the SMK and Polo K aren't quite there. |

SMK is a solid option in that size, weight and price. I shot mine side by side with a YHM Turbo K (non RB), OCL hydrogen K 6.5mm and a Rex MG7. All sounded good but still need ears on a 14.5 AR as expected. YHM TK is still the smallest, OCL hydrogen obviously the lightest. SMK is a little less gas and a little quieter than the YHM if i remember right. But its all splitting hairs in that price, weight and size. At $500 and instock the SMK is a good entry into things. Good company and some nice features, nice balance of size and weight. I am happy with mine. I will leave the YHM on my 14.5 since it is small and light and works fine. Going to try the SMK on my 10.5s since it has a little more volume to it. Honestly i dont know how much they are all different. Obviously the Ti OCL doesnt really fit the category. But i think all the litttle K cans from reputable manufacturers will essentially keep you from blowing your ears out if you have to shoot indoors or unsupressed. All will leave your ears slightly ringing oitdoors with no ears on a gas gun. But nothing like unsuppressed. All make shooting steel much more fun because you hear the impacts nicer. Lots of good options that complete in that size, weight, price. YHM, OCL, ECCO and so on. |

| I've demoed about twenty different 5.56 suppressors and Stacy's Mom would be my top pick for a tight budget AR can. I've demoed one sub $500 suppressor and thought it was a complete waste of money, so I wouldn't go cheaper. I would add one to the list to look at, the Canik Void K. It's an improved Polo K which makes it worth taking a look at. |
