Was in a shop today picking up a transfer and checked out the used guns. Among several Uberti 1866s and 1873s was this 1876 rifle in 45-60. I have thought the "stretch '73" was an interesting rifle and don't have one. The 45-60 seems to be a bit of an unloved round, though. New these are now $2k+, so this price for an excellent used one seems good. But do I really want/need it? I have plenty of 45-70s, including the rifle I was picking up (a Pedersoli Sharps), trapdoors and a Winchester 1886. You guys are always a calming influence... Talk me into or out of it! Made the purchase today. And got an extra $75 off (Cabelas Spring Club Days). Won't get to come home for about 2 weeks (stupid WA 10 business day wait).  There are some scattered handling dings, mostly on the wood. Bore is great. Original box. rob |

I play with a .38-55 Highwall clone, a Uberti made for Taylor Arms. It’s fun. Full power or Trailboss gallery loads. Lots of shitting around like buying a custom mold for it. |
The only hyphenated names I like are cartridge names......30-06, 30-40, 38-55 etc.

No, those are "gun show" bullets. From a guy who bought out the inventory of a caster who left the business (or died). They were sold unlubed and unsized. I don't know what mold they are from or what I'll use after these 100 are gone. In the dummies, I left them that way. For shooting, I ran them through a Lee .458 sizer and hit 'em with their Alox. rob |
