This is actually my seconds iteration. The first one did not turn out how I wanted. I was able to salvage the mag pouches and straps from the first one and reuse them on this. I have a TAPS, but that is just too big and bulky. I wanted something a little smaller, but still wanted two sustainment type pouches and for it to be split front. I used a Taktik buckle for that and it seems to be working pretty good. I used tuck tabs for the two mag cells and made my own kydex inserts for "kywi" pouches. I had some old grenade pouches that will hold a headlamp and some other odds and ends. May replace one with a multitool pouch. The sustainment pouches are on a 3x3 PALS field. And I ran a row of 3/4 inch webbing across the bottom. This would allow me to add some sort of dangler pouch if need be. Probably will just put a small dump pouch on one side. The sustainment pouches are 6x6 by 3.5 inches deep. There are loop velcro fields on the front and back of the insides. The two mesh pouches also have loop velcro fields. Unfortunately I ran out of the coyote loop, so I had to put black field there. I made a removeable web strap on the left side and have an IFAK there. Also made a removable zipper for the right side which is installed. Take a look at the pics and rip it up!  " /> " />  " /> " /> " />

Looks like nice work. The cord and knob on the Taktiks buckle on my Esstac rig lasted less than one shooting trip for me, it will snag itself in some interesting spots on your rifle when slung in front. It's a quick pocketknife mod though Otherwise it's the poop for a split front rig. |

Looks good brother! You can see how your sewing is getting better. Went hardcore, doing an all-sewn on chest rig instead of a MOLLE one. (Molle chest rigs are super easy to make if you are careful) If yall want to get into sewing, a simple chest rig - either an all-molle base panel or a chicom style rig (there's a pattern out there for the chicom rig) is a simple project you can do on your home sewing machine. Once you do that and get some experience and confidence, you can start modifying your design or if you do the molle route, start doing mag pouches. (reverse engineer a cheap military surplus pouch and as you make a few of them, take the time to think about it and figure out how to make it better) |
| Thanks for the kudos. The GP pockets are on pals/molle fields. I wanted some modularity. I’m thinking about making another one for my FAL. If I do that, I may try and get some cool camo fabric to do that. But I would want something that I could get matching webbing for probably. |
