I recently got my Aug from my SOT. It's obviously an original version with the permanently mounted optic, Model 1? Anyway, it doesn't have a separate sear ( qualified or otherwise), and I've measured and compared it against my new A3M1. I can't see any real differences. It's got a NATO stock, I'd like to to put it in a standard AUG stock. Anyway, my problem is that I get intermittent misfires. It dents the primer, or the trigger won't release. I have to rack the slide to a new round and then it'll work. I've cleaned the firing pin area of the bolt. I'm not sure about changing springs in the hammer pack, since it's a full/burst pack, I don't know if the red factory springs will work. I also am not sure where to locate a Version 1 select fire firing pin system, as it's different from the new current version. I'm like to figure out how to put it in one of the used Malaysian stocks so I can use standard Aug mags using the Malaysian hammer pack. The NATO pack obviously wouldn't work. Anyway, I"m mostly interested in getting this thing more reliable. It works select fire fine when it gets the first round fired. Is this AUG a registered sear or a registered receiver? A registered sear gun cannot legally use an original AUG full auto (FA) stock and/or FA trigger pack. The modification to either the FA stock or the semi auto (SA) receiver to allow fitment of the FA stock to the SA receiver constitutes new manufacture of a machine gun. I don't know the specific nuances of the AUG registered receiver conversions, such as if they can physically or legally use factory FA parts. I'll leave that discussion to JBinTX to comment on, as he has previously in AUG threads. He's the AUG (among others) SME, as far as I'm concerned. Be ready to learn about "anti-bounce rods"... |

From my experience a lot of these old 1980s era A1 comversions just dont run very well. They have bad timing issues, poor trigger pack mods, missing anti bounce rods or have the anti bounce rods installed incorrectly, etc, Have a friend with a flemming A1 sear conversion AUG that came out of an estate earlier this month with all sorts of problems that had to be fixed. It runs like a champ now in two modern AUG hosts. As mentioned above need to understand what is the registered part and if its a registered receiver is the receiver milled to full auto spwc or does it have a collection of unregistered conversion parts marries to an unmodified semi auto spec "machinegun" receiver. Pics of all the critical components like the hammer pack, cocking piece, stock latch and stock latch cut, etc. Would be helpful as well. |
