Option (1) will give much better cheek wild and ought not require a cheek riser; QD mount(s) for optic to revert to iron sights.  This option allows use of a Cogburn Arsenal stripper clip guide for top-loading the magazine.

Having tried both approaches, I suggest option (1) as by far the better option, but YMMV.  

Keeping foremost in mind that your Mini is a short to middle range carbine, and not a long range precision firearm, suggest some decent RDS optic on the Ultimak as being most appropriate, but again, YMMV.

I favor genuine Ruger Brand mags as being most reliable.  Triple K mags might work, maybe not.  In some cases, new springs and Ruger brand mag followers (Midway) can help.

If there is a Two-Clamp barrel stabilizer available for your particular Mini, suggest installing it as a proven way to improve accuracy especially with "Pencil-Barrel" Minis.  One-clamp stabilizers not nearly as effective.

Make sure to check the rifling at the muzzle for damage and/or wear.  If damage/wear present, you can probably re-crown the muzzle to improve accuracy.  Get some sort of cleaning rod guide to help prevent future wear/damage.

Determine the Rate-Of-Twist for your particular barrel and use appropriate ammo.  By all means experiment with other types/bullet weights, every Mini is a little different in what it "likes".

Download the User's Manual from Ruger, and read it, especially the part about cocking the hammer and engaging the safety before dis-assembling/assembling the rifle.

Didn't know about the precock on the hammer, this is my 1st mini, been an AR guy since the 80's :)
