| Buddy of mine down the road has a BNIB savage model 10 fcp-sr in 6.5 creedmoor. Says I can have it for $400 with about 100 rounds of various factory loads. How do these typically shoot? Worth grabbing to play around with? I would mind a knock around 6.5 creed rifle, and my farm doesn’t have much more than about a 500 yard clear shot from anywhere. Thoughts? |

Worth it for sure. I have the fcp-k, and I like it, but it is heavy. It's worth checking 2 things, but at that price they wouldn't be a deal breaker at all: What mags does it use? For a while, these were offered with aics mags, but then savage sent them with their propriety finicky and expensive mags. Where is the bolt release? Mine has it on the trigger gaurd, and it makes finding stocks/chassis's harder than the more common receiver mounted bolt release. I always wanted the sr, but I found the -k in store first and grabbed it. |

They do, and having the top bolt release makes that pretty straightforward, though I'm not sure if there are any options that drop in to the accustock, or if the stock would need to be inletted. |

I have that same rifle. Used the Accurate-Mag bottom metal to convert it to the AICS mags I use on everything else. With Hornady MATCH 147gr factory ammo, I get .47" 5 shot groups at 100yds. With handloads of the same bullets using RL-16 I got it down to .375" groups. Savage rifles are usually known to be pretty accurate, plus a barrel swap (and/or caliber swap) is extremely easy if you find yours wont shoot for some reason. |

That would be ideal in my mind. @BoomToob I picked up a nib Fcp-sr last week for $450. It’s the 20” fluted/threaded barrel with kyrptek camo accustock. As far as aics bottom metal go… the MDT core bottom metal or the MDT hunter bottom metal are what I’m looking at. MDT also makes a bottom metal with the barrier stop, but I’m not interested in that. Per the product info they are drop in for savage accustocks. |

$400, new unfired, and with ammo? Why did it take you so long to go get it...lol Having the top bolt release is nice, it really opens up your options for stocks and bottom metal/mags. There is just not a lot of options out there for the bottom bolt release models, as most aftermarket is built around the top bolt release. |

MDT has plenty of options for stocks, chassis, and bottom metal. Accurate-Mag also for bottom metal, that what my 110 Tactical in .300 Wim Mag has. Also check out the Grayboe UMC and stocks. I picked up a short action Accustock with the AICS bottom metal for cheap at a gun show and swapped that over on my 11 Scout. |
