| Have a chance to buy a clapped out Savage 1899 .250-3000 take down. I'm guessing late teens to mid 20's production. Some rust and pitting on the finish. Drilled and tapped up top withi an old scope in a tip over mount. 3 holes in side of receiver for maybe a side mount. Small crack in tip of forearm and good size tang crack in the buttstock that has some kind old repair attempt. Finish worn off wood and an Indian chief carving on the buttstock. Is the juice even worth the squeeze? I can prob get it for whatever I offer. |

| The takedown 99's usually command a bit more money than the standard. Mine is a 99C, series A in .308 with magazine, not the internal counter. Iirc I paid $400 with scope for mine back in the day. It's accounted for both white tail and black tail deer. |

Some updates. The kids neighbor passed away and this was part of a collection of guns the widow asked my son in law to sell for her. Almost every gun was rusted, some severe. It was a shame. Anyway, I kept thinking about this one and on Father's day, my wife and the kids paid the widow and gifted it to me. I was off today so did a detail strip and clean and, other than the stock crack, didn't clean up too bad at all. Bore looked like a sewer pipe, but and some soaking and scrubbing, is a mirror now.
