I finally got a chance to get this thing out to shoot. So I'll give my opinion. I also got the gun, scope, and can for free so dont hate my choices. Attached File It's in .308 with a Burris Fullfield 4x16x50 with their Wind Reticle, some Warne rings and on the front is a Meateater by Banish. Overall the gun feels and handles well. It's pretty light. Around 8 pounds with everything on it. The carbon fiber barrel is nice. Ive never had one before. Cerakoted receiver and bolt handle, the bolt itself is black jeweled. Attached File The action is a little sloppy. I have a 110 Tactical and its about the same. Bolt just jostles around when working it. The bolt lift is terrible. You have to basically hold the gun down and come off the stock to open it up. The stock is nice, more precision minded with a more vertical grip and even a little bit of thumb rest. LOP is adjustable on this model by pushing a button on the underside of the stock. Comb height is not adjustable and no option to add risers like the older 110 factory stocks. I plan on hunting deer so I had 50 rounds loaded up with 165 Sierra game king HPs with different charges (5 each) Im glad it shot these well because the 5 different factory options I tried didn't shoot for shit. 10 minutes between groups with and they were fired within 3 minutes or so. Mirage was pretty bad after like 2 shots. Attached File Attached File The meateater sounded fine on it. I had the brake closed. I didn't bring anything to compare it with since I didn't have a ton of time. The scope is nice. Ill probably end up getting something smaller so I can get lower rings and a better cheek welded since I was using my chin today. My conclusion with these is.. I wouldn't have bought them with my own money but it's always nice to have more guns to shoot. |

110 has always been an accurate hunting gun. You can use it in competitions if you want but you will complain about all the same things....bolt smoothness and throw.... I love Savage.. It's all about price point and small groups. It does both well. I don't shoot competitions. I think those PR CF barrels are known to be a little hit or miss. Looks like you got a good one. I was talking to someone here about their Savage build using a PR barrel and think they had to send a barrel or two back and then it took them a couple of range trips to find a load that it liked. |

I'm definitely going to try a bolt lift kit. It's absolutely needed for this one. My other 110 is manageable The other thing is the magazine. It's not very reliable. Every string the mag wouldn't load the 3rd round. It was like it jumped out of the mag on the extraction of the 2nd shot and then would lay on the top inside of the mag. I had to pull it out of the chamber. The next round would feed fine. I'd like to get another one and try but im not sure they are available yet for this new model. |

Call Savage and see if they'll send you a mag. I wouldn't mess with it before doing that. I hate feeding issues. |

The proof ones were thin. I played with a bolt lift kit in 2019 on a savage. According to a scale, it cut the lift force in half. Archived thread |

I was looking at the 110 Trail Hunter Lite V2 which weighs in at 6.9lbs without scope or can. https://savagearms.com/firearms/sku/33027 The Carbon Hunter weighs 6.56lbs https://savagearms.com/firearms/sku/32950 I have a couple Savage Bolt Actions and have found their bolts are easier to work than anything Ruger puts out. I actually dumped a Ruger Gun Site Scout in favor of a Savage Scout. The Ruger GSS's bolt was rough as can be and impossible to work from the shoulder. |
